Can't think of any language that's been that old that starts with a "D", except Delphi, but Delphi is not that old. Ironic enough, there's a language called "D". http://www.digitalmars.com/d/ If you want a list of languages and links about them, I recommend you check out this url: http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Programming/Languages/

ARGH! You might as well live in Pluto because that college is far away from where I live. :) Those are REALLY good prices though. I wish they had classes at that price around Long Island, NY.

A while ago I caught a small error in the book "Beginning Perl" by Simon Cozens, a Wrox book. Since the editor didn't know my name, he wrote down my Yahoo! username which I e-mailed him with. It's kind of funny seeing "inscissorx" on the page... http://www.wrox.com/acon16h1.asp?WROXEMPTOKEN=121107ZHEunvKL25OekNE6At4E&BookID=403&ExpandID=3324

What do you mean FTP Files? You mean your files that are being served by your FTP Server? If that's your question then just look for an option that says "share files" under one of the Grokster Options... or something to that effect. Be aware of the W32.Benjamin.Worm worm. I …

Yeap, definitely. Java 3D is a set of classes that makes programming in 3D environment a lot easier. Similar to OpenGL, DirectX, and MFC. You don't necessarily need to know how Java3D works in every little detail, but you need to know how you're going to use it...and therefore you …

Jim Carrey is one of my favs. How can you not like Ace Ventura? I loved both the first and second. Those two are classics. Dumb and Dumber, oh man... I love the Turbo Lax scene! It sucks that Dumb and Dumberer will not have Carrey/Daniels in it.

Whoa, took some time to respond. I guess Dani was right about me not looking outside of the programming section. ;) Well, you got several options. It all depends on your budget, demands, and expectations. If you want to shell out for a good well known program that generates 3D …

Yesterday I was looking for a good game authoring language and came across a very interesting one called 3D GameStudio. I was very impressed by some of the samples. I think I might get into it during this summer. If you're coming from a C/C++ world, then it should be …

If you want to practice unix programming, maybe do a few unix/linux scripts, or just test out some commands, Cygwin is the answer. Cygwin is the command.com for Unix. When you run it, it opens up a window like the DOS console, and you're ready to type out your commands. …

If anyone wants to develop Perl applications, a good IDE is OptiPerl. This is one of the best editors I've seen. You can make CGI scripts and test them off line (you see the output on an HTML page), contains color coding, query editor, script output screen (for console programs), …

This is a great tool to use when creating DBs in MySQL. Better than the one it comes with. If you're about to embark on an app using MySQL, I recommend it. http://www.anse.de/mysqlfront/

I think you should just keep it the way it its. The forums should be the home page...I hate to be a pig, but maybe change the color "yellow" to a different one... more of a mascular color (since most computer people are guys) =) Here's my friend's forums: http://animepad.vectori.net/forums/

I can relate to MAD_DOG a lot on this. Last semester I finished my Unix class, and it was shell programming most of it. While I agree with you knalb on the programming being important (I'm a programmer myself) but most of the chunk of the knowlege of an administrator …

"We Were Four Guys ... That's All" - that's from the Beatles... you know, the band that sings "It's Been a Hard Days Night" (I love that song, but anyways....) It's a John Lennon interview. Maybe it's trying to stream from some server. Some stupid ad probably initiated it. If …

I think the fact that you have to include a port number when you're using IIS in your URL with another port other than 80, is just because of Microsoft. I haven't found any other way to get around it(if anyone has any info, I'd appreciate it). I have heard …

There really is no way to truly hide it. If it's HTML, it can be gotten, no matter what. You can use clever JavaScript to disable right click, etc... etc... But any clever user can disable JavaScript. You can use JavaScript includes to hide some of the code, but it …

I don't see why you would want this except for being a pain in the ass towards some host company. Either way, you'd find out somehow... so... the simplest way is to make an infinite while loop and throwing some junk in the middle, like multiple nested subqueries, and complex …

No no no! =) Having a table for each account would be like having a hard drive for each file on your computer. Very inefficient. Accounts, or information that's similar like it is stored in records - which is pretty much like a row in a table. So you can …

From my experience, I believe that Apache 1.x.x HTTP Server is used more for Non-Business development on Windows and 2.x is used for commercial use. The Apache 1.x.x HTTP Server is not meant for serious power, as the Apache Foundation claims it's not optimized to do so yet - only …

Here is a link to a document I wrote it a long time ago because so many people asked me the same question over and over again. It shows you how to set up an FTP Server and how to access them. Don't mind the language. :) http://www.xeonstudio.com/files/FTPTutor.txt

Cheating really pisses me off too. I still play Diablo2 LoD on Battlenet, and it's very irritating. A long time ago, the game was very vulnerable to hacks, so people wrote character editors, programs to duplicate items and hack items. Now, Battlenet has fixed these problems, but some of those …
