If its a hardware ... just go to device manager and disable the devices that are creating problems .... and if its a software run msconfig and uncheck any startup programs related to the software which install wizard is trying to install.

The startup items are located in a registry hive ... but you can enable or disable them using msconfig. Type msconfig in cmd prompt and see the last tab -- startup.
