1) First off, AOL is total junk. I think I have liberty in saying this, as I used to subscribe. ;) I would try to get away from it, especially seeing just how much memory and active content it eats up. 2
apart from that I find the browser faster and …

Sorry about that, we've been backed up lately (for me, its school :)). Have you looked at the security settings of IE? Secondly, have you tried resetting the router? This problem happens alot to me when the hardware firewall built in blocks 1 but not the other.

Major solution: Uninstall all P2Ps, as nearly all have imbedded software (even if they say "no imbeds", its still imbedded, i promise) Other then that, ahve you tried system restore?

It all depends on a buncha variables (ie distance from server, local internet useage, etc). Careful though...P2Ps are legal, while sharing copywrite stuff isn't...and we can't help ya if its illegal...

Welcome to Daniweb:) To clean things up somewhat, we're gonna run a combination of Ewido and CCleaner: Begin by downloading CCleaner, and specifically choosing the most recent version. Then, follow these steps: 1. Close all programs so that you are at your desktop. 2. Double-click on the "My Computer" icon. …

Several things. 1) Be sure to have ActiveX enabled when doing visiting the site. 2) possibly turn off any AVs or firewalls when updating.

I take it this is a software firewall, correct? If so, I would look in the firewall settings about 'currently blocked' programs and such, and remove it. If this is a hardware firewall, I would recommend just resetting it.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this could be caused by static--opening up the computer will do this. And also, by opening it up, you just invalidated your warranty. ;)

-Zixan As a major laptop fan myself, as far as I know, I don't think it's possible to replace internal parts on a laptop without some major skills. If I'm wrong on this, please correct me. Lastly just keep in mind, by opening your laptop case, you would void your …

Actually, its probably because of hidden folders and remnants left on the drive. Every once awhile, enable all hidden folders and clean out all non-necessary items on it.

I know that, from the hardware store, you can buy connectors that allow you to install a grounding wire to the power plug. The part's like $.30 too...;)

Chris- Several things. Just because you selected all hidden folders doesn't mean all the folders. Did you also select system folders? What takes up much of the room on your hard drive is your System Restore.

Also, be sure you have ActiveX controls enabled before running TrendMicro. IF that doesn;t work, use a PandaScan. Finally, if that doesnt work, try a differnet browser.
