Help with Java/PHP/Programming problem
* Gaining advice on different business endeavours I've tried/want to try
* Expressing my disdain for joining a company and building a conventional career
Does that not sound like I really am a Computer Science graduate, with ambitions to start a company, and make a big impact in the world?

I have done all of those... and look at me... I am arguably a mess ;)

Well, unless jack clark is your fake name and is trying to cover up your mistakes of your last account or you're the same jack clark who was one of the most feared right handed batter in the eighties trying to learn programming... who knows who you really are... I am guessing your next move is to make a fake linkedin or facebook and say, "see, its really me!"

Isn't it funny how a person from nasa is asks for help on a forum instead of his many colleagues about his algorithm...

<M/> 170 Why so serious? Featured Poster

@Jack, show some respect. We all know you lied about yourself, no need to continue with it. You solved your code issue, good. No need to tell someone to "stfu" because he was right about something. And please, post carefully... you will just dig bigger holes.

<M/> 170 Why so serious? Featured Poster

But my "Dad" is a programmer and gives me lot's of "Complex" code to look at. I say that in quotes because I have never seemed to find any code hard to understand unless it was in a language I'm not familiar with. (Or LOLCode)

Did you also put "dad" in quotes because your dad is someone who is a person that is not really a programmer...?

Lets be honest here, if your gonna just stay here and just call yourself a "gifted" programmer, why don't you actually prove it and actually help people on the forums... everything you answer seems to be something that anyone could google for.

Also, I have a few friends and a few cousins who attend MIT, they don't know anyone as young as you attending their school...

It's difficult for my computing standard to be affected, because it just feels impossible.

Just as impossible it is to believe anything you say? I mean, your own bio page on daniweb says your a member of Mensa... I am not a Mensa member (I will admit, I am smart but I don't call myself a genius) but I know a few people who are Mensa members (I have a few neighbors and my youngest brother are). Plus, you say you went MIT and graduated in 2013... you might as well show us your diploma...

Yep, I agree with the OP. Sadly, people will continue to take credit for minimal amounts of work while the person who did the work will not get much out of the other person.

<M/> 170 Why so serious? Featured Poster

Yep, I think I figured out how to duplicate this issue (not how i got it originally, but this is another way to get it).

I go to the edit profile page. Look at my birth year. I make it 01/11/95. It treats it as me being ancient, as if i was born in the year 95 rather than 1995... So basically, on the calendar that pop ups, it shows you that you inputted 1995 when you really wrote out 95. And no, that is not my birthday :P

Originally, when i went to the page, without making an update to my birthday, it said that I was over a 101 years old, even though i didn't make any changes to it... This also brings a new question up, what happens if you are a hundred years old and want to join daniweb :P

<M/> 170 Why so serious? Featured Poster

Well... look on the bright side, daniweb users are not like stackoverflow users... when I answered a question there a while ago as a newbie, i literally was downvoted so many times that my account was in position to be banned... what was my mistake you ask? I simply answered someone else's question and my answer basically just gave him the answer and i provided him some sources but what ticked me off is that another person (a person who is popular in the forum) posted the same thing i wrote, just a bit different, he got all the up votes... Stackoverflow, to me, just sucks in almost every way when it comes to the treatment of their newbie users (code project is nearly as bad too, but it has other benefits). The way daniweb is set up is perfectly fine by my opinion. The only time newbies get bombarded with downvotes and criticism is when they are disrespectful or if they ask us to do their homework for them without them showing their work.

<M/> 170 Why so serious? Featured Poster

Yes, i agree with all of the above about the fact that your slider/banner varies on what site/service you have. But i do have to add that your content on the slider/banner should not be bland. They should be at least a bit more interactive than the traditional slider. You want your user to be interested in what you are presenting. Interactivity is a key feature now, and that should not be ignored. Also, you don't have to follow the traditional style of making websites, try to be creative, sometimes that path is better. For some inspiration, go to https://behance.net/ or http://www.awwwards.com/

Shame really as they do have their place, but as they have been in the hands of idiots, they have become synonymous with bad design and woeful content

Yep, its why all my sites i work on are aware of such critique ;)

Give me contant I can absorb without working too hard. Those neverending scrolling one page wonders are the next thing people are crucifying.

Haha, sadly, that can be true sometimes. Though, with the right designers/developers/programmers/whomever works on it, it can be pretty awesome at times.

That will certainly make me puke.

He actually didn't say anything wrong to start any argument. He just said that you have some of the top people helping you out with your problem and that he can't help you (implying that the 2 that are helping you are better assistance). He didn't say anything bad.

Your next post, which came right after his, was talking about the fact that you were dissatisfied with something about posting here and then the problems started from there.

Its the little details that matter. Either you read almostbob's comment as an insult or you just didn't understand what he was implying.

So relax. If something like this happens and it offends you, just flag it. Daniweb's admins will make sure your problems are resolved. Don't look at the posts as a way to discourage you from posting on this forum, or any, just look at it as advice. Attacking fire with fire typically doesn't help anyone.

I maybe wrong, but are you asking if you can create a way where if you press one button, both videos/images show?

<M/> 170 Why so serious? Featured Poster

Ben, you have to understand that people are very sensitive to tone. Saying things like "happy now," "keep telling yourself that," I don't believe your helping" really just shows disrespect to those who help you. You have to remember that the people here who are helping you are experienced at what they do, so show some respect. Imagine talking to your parents like that, do you think they will like it? They most likely will not.

You are on a forum working with someone to solve a problem (every forum is the same), your not texting your friends. Just keep that in mind.

Wehn do you wear the slippers if you also have shoes?

If my feet are cold or i just feel like it (and when my dogs and cat are not fighting for it), then i wear it.

Are the shoes for moving around in and the slippers for when you have sat down?

Not really. The shoes are just worn to keep the house clean and to protect my feet from hitting things (neither shoe look used... both look like they are display shoes at a nike store). the slippers are worn when i feel like it (typically winter mornings).

In 1986, four reactors went out of control during a test which led to an explosion and fire. The fire destroyed the reactor building in its entirety. The explosion also released an unsafe amount of radiation into the air.

The explosion caused the immediate death of two plant employees and then in the months following, 28 firefighters and clean-up workers died because of exposure to the radiation.
