A lot of sources that I have read say stalin killed more than hitler? Just the famine stalin caused killed more people than the jews dying in the holocaust.

Here is one source...https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=1006050806108

Besides, even if stalin killed approximately 20 million people, that is still more than what hitler killed (9-15 million)

I got 21/21 on the first try... which is hard believe due to the fact that I avoid much of the grammar rules when typing in message boards/texting. Also... all those questions were ridiculously easy, at least for me it was.

Well... my grammar is gooder, and that is why I am taking AP Lang next semester because I am one of the bestest in my english class ;)

A man flying in a hot air balloon suddenly realizes he’s lost. He reduces height and spots a man down below. He lowers the balloon further and shouts to get directions, "Excuse me, can you tell me where I am?"

The man below says: "Yes. You're in a hot air balloon, hovering 30 feet above this field."

"You must work in Information Technology," says the balloonist.

"I do" replies the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," says the balloonist, "everything you have told me is technically correct, but It's of no use to anyone."

The man below replies, "You must work in management."

"I do," replies the balloonist, "But how'd you know?"*

"Well", says the man, "you don’t know where you are or where you’re going, but you expect me to be able to help. You’re in the same position you were before we met, but now it’s my fault."

@Jim, that pianist is awesome. He is one of my favorite pianists. My grandfather once met the fellow by attending one of his performances.

@blackmiau, I think he is pretty impressive... but my style of piano performance is a bit different from his and not to be a guy with a big ego (i have a big ego XD) I believe I play better (I have recieved some university offers just for my musical skills, let alone my academics, verbal languages, sports, business skills (long story), and other extra curricular activities... though my computer science skills are not there yet, but will be by senior year of HS XD).

If you guys were wondering, some of my favorite pianists are: Artur Schnabel, Kempff, Rubenstein, Svietoslaf (I think i spelled his first name wrong) Richter, Claudio Arau, Sergei Rachmaninov, Alfred Brendel, and so many others. I like the classic figures (though some of the figures I listed aren't exactly classical due to them being 1900s... some argue saying they are not).

i honestly don't like music unless it is classical (which is weird coming from a 16 year old at my size). I typically enjoy playing the grand piano (8+ years), violin (1+ year), and cello (3+ years).

Some pieces that I like are: Peer Grynt Suite No. 1 (Edvard Grieg), 4 seasons (Vivaldi), anything beethoven, anything mozart, some from correlli, some from bach (I like brandenburg) and so on... I basically like all the songs from this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_50_Greatest_Pieces_of_Classical_Music

Lets not be surprised that I hate our generation of music... what do we have for "talent" now? 1D, Bieber, Mahone, Cody Simpson, and rappers of all kind... yeah, no wonder why i don't like our music of this decade.

In islam, people are not allowed to make drawings of the prophet nor Allah. If you draw a picture of the prophet and make it in a way where it is the artist's depiction of him, you begin to start worsphipping the wrong person (I may need to reword that, i feel like i wrote that poorly). It says so in the quran and you can ask any muslim, only those that are devoted to their faith. When sites like the above draw images like that of the prophet, it shows disrespect to islam... and people begin to wonder why the people of islam get angry.

There was even a controversy when South Park made an episode where it featured the prophet in a bear suit, which led to many controversies towards the producers (it went to extremes where some were giving death threats to them; terrorism and doing such acts isn't islamic if you were wondering... just a reaction)

Here is a (not the best of sources, but it is good enough for this case): http://middleeast.about.com/od/religionsectarianism/f/me080322.htm

@Jim, the jesusandmo site highly angers me because it draws pictures of the prophet of islam, which is opposed in Islam because no one is allowed to even draw a picture of the prophet nor allah/god. Also, a lot of what they post is wrong anyways... I am not trying to start an arguement but that is just my word for it.

Well, as far as I am aware of... HACK is supposed to be a better version of PHP, so it should be object oriented and uses of HACK should be very similar to the uses of PHP.

Here is something I found:

Hack is a programming language for the HipHop Virtual Machine (HHVM) invented by Facebook. The language is open source.
Hack can be seen as a new version of PHP that also runs on the HHVM, but it allows programmers to use both dynamic typing and static typing. This is what is called gradual typing, which has been mostly seen as an academic exercise; as described by Facebook, it is the first to bring gradual typing to a "real, industrial strength" language.

For more info:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hack_(programming_language)
https://code.facebook.com/posts/264544830379293/hack-a-new-programming-language-for-hhvm/

I am going to start learning HACK during the summer... seems like it is worth a try.

I maybe the youngest guy here posting, 16 years old, but I prefer paper because I hate staring at something with lighting for a certain period of time because it hurts my eyes. Certain stuff are worth reading on ebooks (biographies, novels, magazines, etc.) but not everything, espicially when it comes to learning. I found that actual textbooks are much more useful and I can learn more from it rather than reading off a kindle. Honestly, if I had to spend a whole semester using ebooks only, I wouldn't even be in honor roll (3.5 gpa or above). Fortunately, I use actual textbooks (that i can write in) and because of that my gpa is above a 4 (4.24).

Well... it was made "mandatory" by the breeder to get health insurance for my pets (barkworks is the breeder, i am not sure who the insurance is). Our vet just happens to be stupid... Lesson learned... be friendly with your neighbors!

<M/> 170 Why so serious? Featured Poster

Hey guys... random question here but what does it mean when your dog's ear gets really greasy, stained, and smelly? Is that sort of thing treatable at home? One of my dog's has recently obtained this problem about 2 hours ago and it is kind of concerning me.

If you lift up his ear, it is nasty and smelly. He is a small, long haired havenese with floppy ears and is 1 year of age.

Anyone of you daniweb dog owners aware of something like this?

According to a post on stackoverflow:

The dot (.) operator is used to access a member of a struct, while the arrow operator (->) in C is used to access a member of a struct which is referenced by the pointer in question.

The pointer itself does not have any members which could be accessed with the dot operator (it's acually only a number describing a location in virtual memory so it doesn't have any members). So, there would be no ambiguity if we just defined the dot operator to automatically dereference the pointer if it is used on a pointer (an information which is known to the compiler at compile time afaik).

The main difference is that Fluid Layouts (also called Liquid Layouts) are based on proportionally laying out your website so elements take up the same percent of space on different screen sizes, while Responsive Design uses CSS Media Queries to present different layouts based on screen sizes/type of screen. For some examples of both kinds of design, see Inspiration: Fluid & Responsive Design.

Fluid's intent is to keep the same spatial weighting to all elements, and works okay on different sizes of screens of the same sort. They tend to look okay on a 32", high resolution monitor and a 12" lower resolution laptop. They're pretty easy to implement.

Responsive design's intent is to serve different devices layouts tailored specifically for the type of screen. Your site's layout will generally be cut down to a single column on a smartphone for example.
