Browser redirect issue

I have ran into a few issues. The first issue, is that some websites work fine (IE. Yahoo, etc.) while others (IE. Daniweb.com, Avast.com, AVG.com) will redirect me to some weird "browser" websites I've never seen before. It will send me to a different one each time.

Also, even when I allow the firewall to access things, and even tried turning it off. None of my security programs will connect to the update servers.

I've currently ran (from safe mode) the following:

Malwarebytes
Superantispyware
Adaware

I tried to do everything in the setup that you ask, however it will not let me access any of the online virus scanner websites, nor will it allow me to download/install one of the free anti-viruses. If anyone can help me, it would be a huge help. I've never ran into a problem like this before.

The computer had "Cyber Defender" on it, which I had read on several sites was one of the false positive anti-viruses, but I was able to remove it. So I'm not 100% sure what the problem is.

Note: It wouldn't let me put DDS on the system at all. So I had to go with Hijackthis.

Ok, first of all,
Do the following, With all browsers CLOSED. Go to Add/Remove
Look for and Uninstall ALL of the following that you may find there:
FunWebProducts.

* My Web Search (Smiley Central or FWP product as applicable)
* My Way Speedbar (Smiley Central or other FWP as applicable)
* My Way Speedbar (AOL and Yahoo Messengers
) (beta users only)
* My Way Speedbar (Outlook, Outlook Express, and IncrediMail)
* Search Assistant - My Way

You also need to STOP from running at start up and therefore running in the background, Windows Defender, SuperANTISPYWARE and AdAware. If possible do this from within the programs themselves. Having these running in the background can interfere with fixes attempted. Plus...SAS and AdAware background services only work IF you have purchased the programs. While the services run on the FREE versions they do nothing but consume valuable resources.

Reboot the computer, in NORMAL mode. You DO NOT have to be online to do this.

Run HJT again and put check marks next to the following entries if they remain:

Once you have placed the check marks click the Fix Checked button. Exit HJT and Reboot the computer.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is really not meant to be run in safe mode UNLESS it is 100% impossible to run in in normal mode. Here is that info from the MBA-M developers:

Safe mode doesn't let MBAM load all it's drivers which are often necessary for the best detection and removal results. MBAM works in safe mode but is crippled, so if at all possible it should be used in normal mode in an admin account.
MBAM is designed to work in normal mode. It's simply most effective when run this way. Other tools like Spybot Search & Destroy work pretty much the same in normal mode vs safe mode, but MBAM does not and that's the most important thing to remember. Nothing bars you from using it in safe mode, but the results just probably won't be as good as they would if run from normal mode. Of course, doing both as you are shouldn't cause any harm, just perhaps a bit more time consuming.
MBAM is stronger from regular mode . This is by design as a lot of new malware runs from safemode also so you gain nothing anyway . There are also multiple infections that as part of their first step blow away the entire safeboot keyset

So I DO recommend that you NEXT update MBA-M if possible and then run a full scan with it in NORMAL mode. Have it Remove everything found and reboot the computer.
Reboot the computer.

Run a new HJT scan and save the log. Post back here with the MBA-M log and the HJT log.

Since you cannot do that at this time, just run the full scan and have it remove anything it finds.
Post back here with the log, EVEN IF NOTHING IS FOUND.

The only thing I wasn't able to do is update malwarebytes. It is still saying it cannot connect to the server for some reason. A couple of the problems inside Hijackthis that you posted, when I deleted them, they'd just return upon restart. In my add/remove programs, there was nothing from mywebsearch, My way, or nothing that said "Funweb" or anything about it.

MBA-M found 0 infections when I ran it.

See if you can do this, download the program HostsXpert which gives you the ability to restore the default host file back onto your machine. To do so, download the HostsXpert program and run it. When it opens, click on the Restore Original Hosts button and then exit HostsXpert.

Finished with the HostsXpert program. It did the trick as far as the redirects go. Then I noticed that somehow the norton still had files on the PC, so I ran a norton removal tool, and now everything is updating right again. Thanks alot for your help :D

Things certainly aren't complete here. From the looks of the HJT logs the ENTIRE Norton program was on there, actually I believed that WAS your anti-virus program since there is NO OTHER anti-virus program showing anywhere in the logs.
Is there a reason it had to be removed?

Since you DID remove it you most certainly need another one ASAP. If you don't want Norton that is fine, may I suggest one of these excellent FREE ones?
Avira or Avast. Either one is very good. Choose one and install immediately, update and then run a full scan with it. Have it remove whatever is found.

Then UPDATE MBA-M and run a Full Scan with it. Also have it remove all that is found. Reboot and then run a new HJT scan.

Because of "whatever" was on your computer the scans that you DID run that ended up showing nothing cannot be trusted. Whatever caused the re-directs may have also stopped the programs from finding anything. Obviously something is or was on there that caused the re-directs in the first place, this is called HiJacking.

You need to be absolutely certain the computer is clean and fully protected or it WILL happen again.
Follow the above steps, post the logs and we will take a look.

The PC is for a family member. I am just helping them with it. They really like Kaspersky, and bought a copy of that so they wanted me to get rid of norton for them as well cause for some reason it wouldn't show up in there add/remove programs. The computer looks clean. Couple of programs I would remove, one is AdAware. It now has a service that runs all the time but doesn't do a thing unless the program is purchased. I would advise MBA-M is a much better program to use for weekly malware scans....Always updating before each scan of course.
