Removal of "Home Search Assistant", "Search Extender", & "Shopping Wizard"

Hello,
When i go to start, settings, control panel, add remove programs i see two things in there called:

search extender (which has the image of the msn buddy icon) & home search assistent (which has the image of the monitor, & a disc. when i try to remove "search extender" is says unable to open "http://looking-for.cc/uninstall/SearchExtender.html & when i try to remove "home search assistent" is says unable to open "http://looking-for.cc/uninstall/HomeSearchAssistant.html".

Hello,
Ok now I used CWShredder and it seems to have removed it. But initially I had also deleted stuff from registry and from HijacjThis. So I am not sure if it was a combination of all.

You're using an older version of HijackThis; I suggest you get the self-extracting version of HijackThis from here (in line 2):
http://www.malwareremoval.com/downloads.html

Then close any open browser windows, 'Scan and Save Log' with hijackthis, copy the log, and paste it here. (The newer version may find things the older one didn't)

Hi,
Thanks for all your help.
Now I am facing another problem. I cannot access some websites liek Gmail.com does not open not even the login pages.
Some of my credit card and bank of america site open but when I put my login information it does not login it shows the "The page cannot be displayed" page. Same with hotmail.
But Yahoo can be logged in to.

I am guessing it is to do with some kind of authentication metod the site uses.I am using IE. I tried to restore the defaults in all security policies of IE.
Also deleted all restricted sites from the list. So there are no restricted sites.

For ex.
https://service.capitalone.com/oas/login.do?objectclicked=LoginSplash
Link used to work earlier

But now when I type www.capitalone.com it open the home page but when I click on login button it says "The page cannot be displayed"

Unfortunately, because your system was infected on the day that you restored back to, you've reintroduced the infections in the course of trying to fix the other problems.

Please repeat the instructions I gave in my last post. If removing the items I indicated causes other problems, that means that something has been damaged by the infections and needs to be fixed, but if you try to do that just by using System Restore you will again restore the infections.

The Restore at least brought back the entries in your Registry that were created by the infections; whether or not they brought back the infections themselves or not might be a different story.

Repeat these steps again:

1. Have HijackThis fix:

2. Open Windows Explorer, and in the Folder Options->View settings under the Tools menu, select "show hidden files and folders", and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extentions for known file types".

Search for and delete DLHelperEXE.exe.

3. Empty your Recycle Bin, reboot, run HJT again, and post a new log.

If you don't find DLHelperEXE.exe this time, then it's probably only the Registry entries that got restored and not the malicious file itself. Either way, repeat the steps again and give us a progress report after that.
