My name is Keith, I'm not very computer wise. But I can follow instructions. Ive tried many registry cleaners and now i can uninstall them because i can not get into my add/remove programs. It all started with my Microsoft security essentials upgrade. after i tried to reboot my laptop, I was unable to. So I went on my girlfriends laptop and downloaded a flash drive boot device which worked. After the reboot, all hell broke loose. My laptop is slower than usual, I'm getting all kinds of error messages now. I downloaded highjackthis and I have a log for anyone who is willing to help me out. so here it is.

I would most appreciate the help

Keith Cojocari

Hi and welcome to the Daniweb forums :).

==========

I can see one trojan there but I am really loathe to do much here because of your use of registry cleaners :(.
Is there any way you can restore everything that was removed by them?

my restore doesn't not work. im running Microsoft scan on my laptop. so far its found 2256 items detected, 9 issues found. I can not get into my add/remove programs, giving me an dll error. So, I'm hoping that will resolve some of my problems where I can get into add/remove to get rid of all the anti-spyware I downloaded. When I finished with this scan, I will update in this thread to what is happening with my lap top.

I've been reading through a lot of threads here and this forum seems to be the best one I've seen.

Thanks for the help.

Well, after windows scan the laptop restarts and I get a termination error and I can't get past the Administrator name/password log. I just press OK and it tells me its saving network setting and goes back to the network log a few seconds after, along with a bunch or errors. I'm going to format this problem because windows 7 disc is in the mail and should be here any day anyways. However, I have a ton of Music mp3s im my "my music" folder I would like to get to and put them onto my gf's laptop for the time being. The only thing that I ask of you id how would I get to the folder to remove them. I have to send them to my flash drive mp3 player and transfer them to my girlfriends laptop. this will take a little while. So is there any way I can get pass the login errors to get to my files?

Can you remove the hard drive and then hook it up to a desktop pc? You will be able to access the files then (hopefully).

Stay away from registry cleaners. They are at best, a gimmick and at worst, a system wrecker.

I dont think I know anyone that has a pc. I might try an repair it with the xp disc and hope i dont lose my music.

ok. so i got my hands on a xp repair disc. i press f12 to load from disc, then it askes me what drive i want to fix, f drive or c drive, when i choose either one it asks me for an administrator password which i clearly dont know haha. is there any way past that?

The admin pw is often blank. Just press enter and see what happens.

cool. that worked. thanks. now i must figure out what to do. asks me to repair c drive or f drive then when i pick a drive it says windows c: then i dont know what command to put in. this is all too confusing for me.

Just y, enter.
