I received a computer from an acquaintance-I do not have the XP password nor do I want it. I am trying to clean the Harddrive with Wipedrive to start anew. The computer will not boot from the CD Drive even though the Bios says it is the first boot.
Any suggestions anyone?

Can you select which device to boot from? On my computer if I press F8 it will ask me what I want to boot from. When the copmuter is switched on look for the boot device key, press it and select CD/DVD drive.

f12 on a lot of brand name computer will bring up the boot device selection
