Business Exchange is the new name for the IT Water Cooler. The IT Professionals' Lounge is under the Community Center, the new name for the Coffee House ... Which is represented by the little person icon.

I've been posting today from both home and the office with no problems. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Let me know if it continues into tomorrow ... I don't really have any ideas to investigate right now.

My main qualm with the new start menu is the little window area is so small that as soon as I start expanding one or two folders, I have to start scrolling way too much to see what I'm doing. So I went and expanded the start menu to show …

I don't have faith in either. Alexa can be good for trends within a particular site, but it's horrible for comparing sites ... especially sites in different niches (even within the same industry).

There are two ways to do it. The first is to use CSS and absolute positioning. You would create a hidden div and then use the a:hover css property to set it to be visible when the link is hovered over. This is the way that the dropdown menus in …

Does this happen with every single click? I'm willing to bet that it's banner ad related, in all honesty. Also, what country are you from? (Helps to eliminate geotargeted campaigns only reaching the US, for example).

Are you talking about changes to the sites that you link to that are beyond your control? If you think that a site might potentially change to include something you wouldn't want to link to, don't link to it. Period.

I think the duplicate content issue is a big one. However, I'm a bit confused by your question. Article directory services? Is this like where you submit an article that is keyworded out and has links pointing back to you, for other sites to use to get free content? Like …

It depends on the directory. There are some really good quality niche directories that have real targeted traffic. And it's always a good idea to get yourself into DMOZ (although not as important as it once was IMO). With both directories and link exchanges, you just have to be careful …

I think that a good search engine marketing campaign encompasses on-page SEO (having clean html code that proper utilizes page titles, h1 tags, etc), off-page SEO (having a constant stream of new backlinks, getting blogs to link to you, viral marketing), and PPC (buying clicks to your front door pages …

Because blogs are very viral, it's really not that difficult to make money off of them since it doesn't take much to keep a steady flow of new incoming links which keeps traffic coming in. I used to say that text links were a good step for some blogs but …

92% of my traffic comes from Google's organic serps. It averages out to almost 200,000 visitors a day. Talk about keeping all your eggs in one basket. It's all G too ... other search engines send me close to nothing.

I read somewhere on Google's blog that they now have rudimentary support for Flash, actually. Spoke to a Flash developer friend of mine and heard that it isn't that great. Where did you hear that search engines can access Ajax content? AFAIK spiders can't execute JavaScript.

I am of the belief that you should always have a tableless design. By this I mean that the actual layout of the design itself should be tableless ... Tables can be used for tabular content within the page but shouldn't be used to structure the layout.

Post in related forums with good content, linking to your own site in your forum signature. Remember not to spam the other forums :) That will just make you look bad. However, posting good info will get you a good name and make you well respected in your industry.
