Typically, it would be Delete or maybe F2.
This info is usually on the screen briefly at boot up. What's the make of the PC?

Hello, fellow Tivo user.
Post ipconfig from the PC.
Is there a firewall installed?
What router are you using? I'd suspect a problem with the router config.
"Bill" is not an idiot, and he knows you want to preserve the dates on your files. You're looking at the "Date Modified", and Bill has accurately recorded your key strokes. Rt-click the column headings and add "Date Created" (And "Comments" if you wish.)
This utility will create a text file you can import into Excel(Or you can just use it as is, if you prefer:
http://techcruser.blogspot.com/2007/04/print-out-directory-listing-of-files.html
This can also be done with DOS commands.
Rt-click the file/Properties
Choose "Summary", enter away.
Make sure all user accounts are password protected.
Are you trying to connect to your home network?
I made a mistake once...
Oh, dear me.
"Deel"? "Soundcard"?
Caperjack got it mostly right, though.
At the Dell site, use your service tag to identify the proper adapter, then download the driver.
In Disk management, rt-click and select "Explore".
OK, you see it, but what does it say about partitions, file type, space, etc.? (All drives are partitioned, it's just a matter of how many).
It sounds as though the drive needs to be formatted. You may have accidentally deleted the partition when you reinstalled.
What info do you see in Disk management?
Have you set Windows Mail as your default email?
Control Panel/Internet Options/Programs
Yes.
In folder one, select all/rt-click/rename
Enter an appropriate name (i.e. my vacation)
All will be renamed "My vacation001, etc.
Irfanview also has a batch rename utility.
Thanks Hugh, Gonna try that now.
I've only ever set up computer to connect to home network, I've never attempted to remove one. Should I just run the set-up wizard again ? I'm not really seeing the option where I can delete my entries, just gives me the option to 'open', 'explore' ... things like that. Not sure how to go about removing my connection. Any ideas?
You may have to disable the NIC, but try to change all the settings in Network Center first.
Change "Private" to "Public ", then back, etc.
Vista is sometimes very stupid about networking.
Delete all the networking entries on one machine and set it yp again.
What OS?
Is there a share on the laptop?
Sparkax and I are telling you the same thing, but Chaky isn't paying attention, so ignore him.
What is the error message? Just the words, as the numbers don't often help.
Pay attention to kaninelupus. I've seen this several times recently.
Start/Run/cmd
Enter ipconfig in the command window
Wired or wireless?
Reboot your modem/router.
Post ipconfig.
VNC will do it:
http://www.realvnc.com/
It's quite an education to set it up, but it's used by a lot of people.
See here:
How to take ownership of a file or a folder in Windows XP

1394 is Firewire, and that's OK.
All the other info sounds good. so this might be a firewall issue. If it's McCaffee, just uninstall it. Any firewall that blocks you without telling you is a piece of crap.
Do the other computers show a similar pattern for the IP address (i.e. 192.168.1.???). Is the gateway the same?
In Control Panel/Internet options, what is shown under connections?
Can you ping any web sites?
Try ping www.yahoo.com from a command prompt.
You've left out everything we need to know.
What OS(s)? What hardware?
Post ipconfig.
Router? ISP?
Run a spyware scan.
I wouldn't say it's "better", but it does seem to be very stable and driver/program support is excellent.
That said, I expect dual-booting is the way to go, as it will expire next year.
It's looking for the jar file that installs the chrome theme (I think).
Reinstall this theme, or another and see if that helps.
You're welcome.
Please mark this as solved so others can find this solution.
Hi all,
this must be the most absurd inquiry in the history of inquiries.
i cannot, for the life of me, locate the plug for the internet networking cable on my tower of my PC computer. it runs ME, and veiwing the help files I came accross a vague suggestion of it being on the "expansion plug of the motherboard". Unfortunately I dont have a screw driver... or maybe fortunately because I cant even remember how grounding the tower works (am i supposed to be touching the comp + the ground, or not so?) AND if i did have a screw driver id probably damage something....so what i was wondering is... is the plug internal or external, because I sure cannot find it.
Thanks,
Hails
If you haven't found it, you probably don't have one. It looks exactly like a telephone jack, but larger.
They (PCI Nics) cost about $15.00 and are easy to install.

I believe both routers must support WDS, and it looks as though the Netgear may not.
There are lots of backup programs-Cobian is free and easy to use:
http://www.educ.umu.se/~cobian/cobianbackup.htm
There's something wrong with the CD you burned. Did you burn it as an image or an ISO? In any case, try it again.
Your fan is making this noise.
Fan speed is controlled by a sensor, and yours is no longer working, so it sounds as though the fan is running at full speed all the time, hence the loud noise.
Check the physical connection and clean the fan, but you probably need to have someone knowledgeable look at the situation.
It doesn't seem likely. The internal interface is SATA, and I doubt there's any way to adapt it.
You forgot the user password also?
This program will recover most XP passwords:
http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/
It may help to check that your video cable is fully seated at both ends and has no bent pins.
Try the monitor on another PC to verify it's OK.
Download it and run it. It's probably the best diagnostic for Your HD as it's made by the manufacturer, and they know your drive the best.
Download the diagnostic software from the HD manufacturer and run it for a more definitive result.
You must have Samba installed and you must edit /etc/samba/smb.conf.
Everything you need is here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SettingUpSamba
Post smb.conf if you continue to have problems.
This is not good.
Download the diagnostic software from the HD manufacturer and run it for a more definitive result.
Yes, but are they current, especially since you've installed security?
This often happens inadvertently, also. I have accidentally connected to my neighbor's wi fi from time to time, so these may not be "intruders" at all, just accidental travellers.
Refresh your network map and see who's there now.
If they are, you can set up MAC filtering, but remember that neither filtering nor WEP are rigorous.
Why do think you have an intruder-what's the evidence?
Does this intruder show up in the Network page in the router configuration?
This program will tell you what machines are active on your network:
http://www.lookatlan.com/download_lal.html
This looks very straightforward.
Install the software from the CD, then insert the card and follow the prompts. You'll need to know what kind of encryption you have, the key, and the SSID.
What problems were you having?
