Hello,
You won't be able to use the RAM from the desktop in the Laptop or connect the two and use the RAM in the desktop for the laptop.
I would have thought of the two the desktop would make a better server.
Can't say much about Minecraft.
hello,
as you know your partitions you listed file type NTFS, I don't believe that you can install SUSE on NTFS, delete these partitions.
install SUSE using the unallocated space left on the disk, either let SUSE automatically set itself up in the unallocated or create it the partitions manually.
As I recall when I installed SUSE I needed 3 partitions for it; a swap partition, one for the install and one for the home directory (this may have changed since i installed it).
If you are creating the partitions manually you'll need to create the home directory and swap partition within an extended partition. You can only have 4 primary partitions you would need to create a partition for the install of SUSE and extended partition to contain the swap and home partition.
Hello,
You can enter the product key after installing i believe if not during the install, just pick the correct version of windows.
Hello,
you may find this under PC settings > accounts.
tap your account then disconnect.
This should disconnect your Microsoft Account from the tablet, which should disconnect you from onedrive but everything else linked to this account to.
Hello,
Could you post a picture/screenshot of what you see?
Hello,
When files and folders appear grey they are usually just hidden, can you access and of the user folders by clicking on them or does it say permission denied?
Did you get as far as taking ownership of the files or granting yourself permissions or can't you grant permissions on the user files from windows 8?
Just double checking that you didnt assume the BIOS didnt recognise the CD/DVD drive because it isnt booting from it.
What are you trying to boot from USB? which operating system? I dont believe you can simply copy files to USB and expect to boot from it, you'll have to configure it to be able to boot via USB.
Hello,
Did you set to boot from the CD/DVD drive in BIOS?
Well, I would still recommend the nVidia drivers. They generally are a generation ahead of the system vendor's version.
**nod** I agree nvidia is the way to go.
hi,
If you are thinking heat problems did you reapply any thermal paste to the CPU? Perhaps new paste is required if all other components are good. The old paste may not be once what it was...

Hello,
What exactly are you using the computer for? gaming will have higher requirements while surfing n word processing etc. will not exactly need a super computer.
Depending on your requirements you maybe able to buy a motherboard, CPU and ram as a bundle saving the hassle and worry about incompatibility.
Hello,
You can use any brand graphics card, the only restriction is it must fit; pci-e and must have enough power. Can you post the specific card you are looking at?
Hello,
Have you taken the laptop apart?
Maybe try just the motherboard with only the required components, if it doesn't work i'd say something is wrong with the motherboard; maybe inspect the motherboard for burnt out components scorch marks.
Did the user have the laptop on for prolonged periods of time?
Did they try HP support?
My HP laptop did something similar, I put some new thermal paste on the CPU and that solved the problem for a while but it didn't last; it may at least help diagnose the problem.

Hello,
What are you after doing?
There are lots of things out there related to computing, are you looking for XP specifics?
Usually you get tutorials for the software your running as opposed to XP; there is only so much an average user needs to know about their operating system(XP in your case).

Hello,
If the hard drive is in the boot list then you should be able to install XP on the hard drive and it will boot from that. Or is the problem that the hard drive is before the CD/DVD drive in the boot list?

Hello,
I had trouble with one of my Seagate drives before returning it, they asked me to use a disk diagnosis tool. Try Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS from western digital (check it is compatible with your type of drive). The tool I used from seagate maybe similar; It reported the size of the disk, and allowed me to alter the maximum readable size, perhaps yours has been limited to 750GB.

If I had to choose between 2000 and XP, XP would be the winner. If you have a XP or 2000 installation disc you could try running them in a virtual machine; depending on resources required.

Hello,
From What I understand you have an empty drive (G) and you want to install fedora to that. Fedora will not install on a NTFS partition. Try deleting the partition(G) and choose the appropriate file system; perhaps a guided installation for the space that is left.
Were this me performing the installation manually I would create an extended partition and have two partitions inside, 1 partition of ext3 and 1 swap partition (only a few GB). Use gedit to set up the partitions and select the correct ones during the OS installation.

Hello,
We are assuming your laptop still recognised the disk.
Can you enter the BIOS and check if the hard drive is actually detected?
Did it come up with an error message saying no operating system was detected please insert a disk or did it attempt to boot from something else say network boot?
Hello,
If you can't get your system to detect the drive I don't think there is much you can do. You may have been able to get data off it if it was recognised but I think your going to have to get a replacement.
Have you no backups?
You could try a data recovery company but they usually have a steep price tag.
Hello,
Best option is to change the password for the email service; Check again for malware. If this happens regularly shut down the machine before the emails are usually sent, if emails are still sent then someone is probably accessing the account on another machine.

Hello,
Can her email account be accessed on the internet?
Is it Webmail?
If she can, change the password, someone my have the password for this account.
HINT: have a look at the time email was sent, if the computer which she's on is not switched on that would suggest that someone is using the account on another computer.

Hello,
I would also avoid using windows based RAID. You are better off with a dedicated card as mentioned in the previous post.
Your budget will also effect which card you go for; cheaper ones are usually software based so it still uses your CPU, but is better than windows one. The Hardware based ones are much better but are usually more expensive.
I would definitely get a RAID controller card if you are using a server.

Hello,
Almost any recent graphics card would be better than what you already have; putting a graphics card in is quite similar to what you say you have done already.
However run the system checker here. According to your specs your may only just meet some minimum system requirements. Get a graphics card that is of better specification than they ask.
Things to consider about graphics cards;

Hello,
Are you after burning the PowerPoint to disc so that it plays automatically in a computer or are you after burning it to DVD so you can watch it on a DVD player?
Hello,
If you are using windows have you run 'chkdsk'?
If you right click on the drive icon then click on > properties > tools. Then click on the button that will check the volume for errors. A box should come up, make sure both boxes are checked; fix file system errors and repair sectors.

Hello,
Try pressing 'windows key' and 'R' at the same time then type msconfig and press enter.
Click on the boot tab. This tab should show the operating systems listed at bootup. You can post back with the list, delete any other entry except the one you are using or reduce timeout.

Nice One, if your problem is solved please mark this thread as solved.
If you need anything else you know where we are.
Okay then try using this to move the second partition next to the first partition and then extend the second partition.
What you should have now is;
| Partition 1 | free space | Partition 2 |
What it should be like after moving the partition;
| Partition 1 | Partition 2 | free space |
Then extend the second partition;
| Partition 1 | Partition 2 >>>>>>>>> |
- Let us know how it goes
I see so you after expanding the second partition.
What you need to do is; click on start then in the search box type disk man then click on create and format hard disk partitions.
Now right click on the first partition(C:) then select shrink volume, reduce the partition size by how much you want to expand the second partition (D:) and click ok,next, finish. Then in the disk manager right click on the second (D:) partition and select extend volume check that the partition is being extended into the free space and click ok,next, finish.
Now the first partition should have been shrunk and the second partition should have been expanded.

Hello,
If you are after tranferring files from one partition to the other you should be able to do it through windows explorer. Click on start > computer and then you should be able to transfer the files that way.
If this is not what you are after doing you'll need to add more details.

Hello,
Perhaps you should tell us what you plan on doing. Why would you want to extend the devices?
You say you want to know if you extend the power supply; why don't you just get an extension lead.
You may consider using wireless technology, the cost of wireless equipment maybe less than wired.
Hello,
Simply: as long as the cables will reach.
Does this answer your question or are you looking for a different answer? Add a bit more detail to your question.
Hello,
You should be able to install ubuntu over fedora. Insert the Ubuntu disk and delete the Fedora partitions then install Ubuntu how you installed Fedora. Ubuntu should rewrite the grub (boot selection screen) automatically.
Just in case anything goes wrong back up you data first. If you need help installing Ubuntu let us know.
- Let us know how it goes.
Yes, put plainly a SATA cable would allow faster data transfer.
As far as connections you would need a computer with a E-SATA port. If were talking external hard drives E-SATA maybe faster but USB is a lot more popular; if your using the drive on different machines you have to think "Will they have a compatable port?" USB ports are near enough standard on PC's now.
Hello,
You may have tried this but can you navigate in the game using keys? try selecting the menus using the arrow keys, tab may also switch selction and also pressing enter or space could be used for something like a tick box.
CTRL+ALT+DEL , ALT+TAB or windows key should bring you out of the game to close it.

Hello,
You should have no problem dual booting XP and win 7.
I have three operating systems and all are listed; just make sure you install the oldest operating system first.
XP then Win 7. Windows 7 should detect XP and create an entry for that. if that doesn't work you could try EasyBCD.

Hello,
Have you tried anything so far?
Is the motherboard the same as the previous one or is it different?
If it is exactly the same as the last one (except for the damage) you should be okay reconnecting everything and that should work, but if it is different then the OS will need to be reinstalled.
If there is data on the hard drive then you may want to back it up.

Hello,
Have you looked at this Kaspersky temp files?
It looks like you can clear out the temp files using kaspersky.
- Let us know how it goes.
It shouldn't matter as long as you boot from the operating system installed on the other PC (meaning the primary hard drive on the machine working). You can transfer the files to an external hard drive as well if you have one.
Just to mention, you could have used a Linux live CD to backup the photos to an external hard drive.
AS mentioned above you should have used the XP Pro x64 CD to repair the OS.
Hello,
Have you run any anti-malware programs? I suggest you run a scan to make sure your machine isn't infected.
Have you tried a different monitor?
Does this problem happen before logging in and does it happen if you don't do anything(log in and just leave it)?.
Hello,
When the cd boot menu comes up have you tried Check CD for defects?
You may also want to consider booting from a USB stick - Install Ubuntu 9.10 to a Flash Drive from Windows
Hi,
By backed up do you mean you coped the files from the XP machine to the external hard drive or did you create a proper backup (like a hard drive image) and put it on your external hard drive?
Hello,
Which web browser are you using?
- Let us know and we'll help you out.
nope, only tested it using one screen
i took it home and tested it using one screen with one of the DVI to DSUB adapters and it worked fine on both ports, I then repeated the process with the exact same setup but with a different DVI to DSUB adapter and the machine lost power after about 30mins.
It would seem to me that its either a problem with that port or the adapter.
but in answer to ur question, no they only tested it using one scren hooked up
So you tried one monitor and both adapters to the same port?
If thats the case maybe something is wrong with one of the adapters but I don't know why it would shut the PC down.
Do these monitors have a DVI connection it maybe worthwhile investing in one and trying that.
Did you connect the power to the graphics card?
just took my computer down to the local PC store where I bought the card n other parts for my system and they installed it and said it ran fine.
When I got it home and hooked up both screens again, the whole system died after 20mins. I retried twice more and the power dropped out in even less time on both occasions
--- overheating something perhaps?I unhooked the LCD tv and just used my TFT monitor and it's been fine for over an hour now, so it's looking like there's a problem with one of the ports possibly.
I've swapped the monitor cable to the other output to see if that output port is the culprit so will report back when I have an answer.
If it doesn't give me any trouble it would seem to be that the system is having trouble sending to 2 TV's which would make me think it's either the PSU or something I'm missing in the software settings.
Did they test it using the same setup as you do at home?
Have you forgotten your password or are you not the admidistrator?
