hello,
Have you checked all your drivers for graphics are uptodate?
Have you tried a lower quality of the video incase your graphics are struggling?
Looks like its time to get the sledge hammer out and have a DIY accident.
I'm sure dell will still try to diagnose the problem, good luck.
Hello,
Did this work in the past? perhaps uninstall the video drivers and try an earlier version/ roll back video drivers?
Hello,
Can you post the spec of your PC?
rubberman is correct. I don't think there would be any point in getting faster RAM as you PC won't make use of it, also if the faster RAM is more expensive why waste money?
Hello,
Maybe something is wrong with the USB drive or HDD, I've only installed a fresh install of XP from the CD perhaps try using the CD instead.
Is there a reason your going back to XP?
Hello,
You won't be able to use the RAM from the desktop in the Laptop or connect the two and use the RAM in the desktop for the laptop.
I would have thought of the two the desktop would make a better server.
Can't say much about Minecraft.
Hello,
If your struggling to install XP as in it isn't trying to boot from CD you will have to select the CD/DVD drive as the boot device or set the CD/DVD drive before the HDD in the boot order within the BIOS.
Hello,
There is a section further down with all the individual drivers you'll just need the sound/audio drivers. Collapse the download and manual section.
If you manage to install the driver, restart and try the headphones again.
Hello,
Have you got your system details? You should be able to search for your drivers for this laptop.
considering you mention Samsung R730 you should be able to search the samsung website for drivers.
Here is what I found: http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/NP-R730-JA02UK
Hello,
Have you tried this connected to another computer? This should narrow the issue down to the HDD or PC.
Hello,
You maybe able to do this with dd-wrt:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
If you can get this on your router this may allow you to do what you need. Take care doing this however as you can end up with a bricked wireless router, make sure you are confident in the process.
You may want to check with someone who uses dd-wrt if it is capable of what you want it to do, im not dd-wrt expert.
hello,
as you know your partitions you listed file type NTFS, I don't believe that you can install SUSE on NTFS, delete these partitions.
install SUSE using the unallocated space left on the disk, either let SUSE automatically set itself up in the unallocated or create it the partitions manually.
As I recall when I installed SUSE I needed 3 partitions for it; a swap partition, one for the install and one for the home directory (this may have changed since i installed it).
If you are creating the partitions manually you'll need to create the home directory and swap partition within an extended partition. You can only have 4 primary partitions you would need to create a partition for the install of SUSE and extended partition to contain the swap and home partition.
If your thinking of getting a new machine what is the harm trying to restore the current one?
Perhaps try restoring this machine as you would have to start from scratch with a new one anyhow.
Hello,
Have you tried connecting your laptop to a monitor to see if it is the laptop display?
Hello,
You can enter the product key after installing i believe if not during the install, just pick the correct version of windows.
Hello,
If your into pentesting have you tried backtrack?
I used a bootable USB with backtrack on it.
I usually end up defaulting to ubuntu on a home PC.
Hello,
Have you tried the HP site at all for installation instructions?
perhaps something like this would help:
Hello,
you may find this under PC settings > accounts.
tap your account then disconnect.
This should disconnect your Microsoft Account from the tablet, which should disconnect you from onedrive but everything else linked to this account to.
Hello,
Where you looking for the best parts for your current motherboard or just looking for the best parts in general? You'll have to make sure they are at least compatible with your motherboard and any other components.
Also they maybe compatible but won't be full utilized, eg.using a SATA-III drive when the motherboard is SATA-II will run at SATA-II speeds etc...
hello,
I don't think i would bother trying to flash your BIOS, I'd go with 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'.
If your after some sort of performance increase look somewhere else than BIOS.
hello,
Have you tried your onboard vga connection or just the graphics card?
Have you checked space available on your hard drive?
Have you tried reinstalling the mail app?
If you installed this from a live CD/DVD you may also be able to resize the partitions using gparted from booting off the live CD/DVD. You should also be able to move partitions around if they are not contiguous. Files shouldn't be in use as you are using the live disc.
let us know how it goes.
Hello,
I doubt there will be much you can do to improve the graphics performance you maybe able to tweak other areas.
I also think you will struggle with getting a graphics card for a laptop, why do you want to upgrade the graphics?
Hello,
Just out of curiosity, Is task manager showing much activity when you login to windows? Have a look under the Performance Tab.
Do you have the same issues in safe mode?
Did you install all your system drivers?
hello, if you search for partition and select create and format partitions of the sd card show in the disk manager?
you should be able to format it from there if you cant see it under 'computer'
you should also be able to give it a drive letter if it does not have one.
Hello,
Could you post a picture/screenshot of what you see?
Hello,
When files and folders appear grey they are usually just hidden, can you access and of the user folders by clicking on them or does it say permission denied?
Did you get as far as taking ownership of the files or granting yourself permissions or can't you grant permissions on the user files from windows 8?
If you swap the monitors around (Use the philips as the no.1/main screen) does the philips monitor display work or does it still say no video?
Hello,
have you tried setting up dual display's or have you just plugged two monitors in expecting both to show your computer screen?
Hello,
I would think you can burn the MP3's to CD using Windows Media Player just make sure it is set to audio CD when burning.
hello, does this help :
Hello,
You can resize your external hard drive without any additional software.
If you are running windows 7/8 search for diskmgmt.msc and run that. (Search from the start menu on windows 7 or using the charms on windows 8)
You'll be presented with another window and if you right click on your external drive you can 'shrink' it (make sure you select the correct partition). With the unallocated space left you can create more partitions.
Any beeping? Messages displayed? Can you enter BIOS?
Have you tried booting by selecting last good know configuration?
It could be getting the network profile mixed up, considering they have the same name it could be attempting to use your home network settings to connect to works.
I had something similar happen to me after changing passwords and keeping the network profile for the old one.
Hello,
How far do you get with booting? Does windows start to load, then restart or does it randomly reboot when powered on?
Was any updates or programs installed before shuting the laptop down?
I agree with the above, You should be able to easily change the SSID at home.
You should be able to configure your router by entering the IP address found on the back of your router, put that into a web browser address bar whilst using a computer connected to your router. Make sure you have the password to connect.
Let us know how it goes
After pressing the boot select button an menu like this will appear... Click Here select DVD/CD drive.
This will be before windows boot selection; where it asks you how you wish to start windows.
As soon as the laptop starts, as in you switch it on press a certain key to select boot options, like it will say "Press F2 for boot menu" press this key and a menu will come up and you select DVD drive.
Do you have your latop model number? Perhaps we can find out which key you need to press.
You need to get you laptop booting from the installation disc.
You need to select the DVD drive from boot option menu by pressing a key as mentioned previously.
You could also change the boot order so your laptop attempts to boot from the DVD drive first.
Dont forget to press any key when it says to start booting from DVD.
P.S creating multiple discussions/threads about the same problem isnt really the way to go, stick with one.
Nevermind, found a workaround got the installation media for Vista and didnt cost me a penny. Can't complain, sure am glad I didnt go ahead and buy it.
Thanks
Hello,
This is the windows 7 installation dvd yes?
If you are after reinstalling windows, select custom install and then you should eventually be given the option to edit disk partitions, you can format there and reinstall windows afresh.
By reinstalling you will be losing anything you have stored such as documents, photos etc...
Let us know how it goes
