in relation to your networking question many isps including my own are throttling or even banning certain protocols such as bittorrent or are restricting services so that, for example your 16 meg connnection may only let you have 8 downloads capped at 2 megs each

the only way to remove certain "hidden" shares is to remove file and print sharing from network properties (the window where you set ip adresses and add prtocols)
