the hostname is whatever you want to call the printer. A WINS server is a nameserver. You wont have one on a home network so either leave it blank or try the same as the gateway.

You can add those lines in the designer in languages such as VB. Dont know about C++. What are you using? C++ with MFC? Or plain Win32? Are you designing it visually? or are you doing it all in code

Generally the red X indicates a disconnected network drive, but thats wierd as your C drive should be a fixed, local, physical drive.
