Re: Molex connector on the board is used when you have 2 VGAs in Sli mode. I suggest that you try connecting VGA and CPU only (no memory, drives..) to see if you get any POST. Make sure your VGA is in top slot.
Re: It is windows protection that wouldn't allow you to use copy of windows on different machine. You must install YOUR copy of windows on that machine. (Try "repair windows" from the Windows Setup CD)

Re: I smoke (cigarettes too). I vote for PSU replacment. Wouldn't cost you more than $30 to get the 550W like I did. It is really frustrating when you must guess the power consumption of your hardware. I'm wondering, is it really that hard to declare power consumption of a HD …
Re: (this goes if your drive is NTFS format) Looks like you don't have permission to delete the files that you didn't create on your system. You will have to unchecked "use simple file sharing" (in the folder options/view). Now set permissions (full control) on that drive's root folder for either …

Re: Not necessarily. There is NTFS reader for Windows 95, 98, Me (here). It's a freeware. I haven't tried it, but it should work fine. I suggest that you do extensive tests with it (defragmenting, saving encrypted/compressed rar archives and so) before you use it on a every-day basis. Re: Is the amount of memory reported in your bios correct? In general, mixing brands of the memory modules is not the wise thing to do. If your memory controller is dual channel, then the memory config must look like this: slot 1 old mem slot 2 new mem slot 3 …
Re: Maybe you should look for BIOS updates for your mobo or your CMOS battery is dead.
Re: Did you try booting from windows 98 setup CD? They are bootable. It seems that your windows installation didn't finish properly. Creating shortcuts is one of the last things that happens during installation. Maybe you should consider reinstalling windows, or repair current installation. Avoid using Floppy boot disk, for it …
Re: You problem is not having recovery disks. I suggest that you track down person you bought that laptop from, and request the disks, for they belong to you. Hi ppl. I have been struggling with this one for couple of days now. It appears that my Windows XP think that my Pioneer DVR 110 D is a CD-ROM drive. I've learned how to make windows think it is a burner, but I can't make it recognize it as …

Re: Unplugg all except power supply, VGA and CPU. (no HD, no optical, no memory...). If you don't get any POST that way, you are looking at faulty mobo/VGA/PSU or some of the cables or VGA aren't plugged right.

I'm getting notification delays. Up to couple of hours after the reply on subscribed threads have been posted. I don't think that it is daniweb's fault, but I can be wrong. I'm on hotmail, and the other day I got "server too busy" page instead of my in-box. Also, "time …

![]() | Re: That smart PSU can be "not so smart". Thing is, it has protection against shorting, so if it thinks that there is a shorting somewhere, it will cut off the power. Unplugging it from the mains resets that protection. You need to find out what is causing it to cut … |

Re: If you're thinking about OCing them, you'll have to be very careful when choosing mobo. Some won't let you change things much. Friend of mine got dual core and his mobo (can't remember the name) gave him 2 choices for the multiplier setting. Pathetic.
