Proxy Servers

I'm generally kinda tired of trying to do in-class research and having the sites blocked that I need; does anyone know of a bunch of proxy servers that will let me get around that?

I'm looking for 1 too, most of the one I find are blocked by the school's internet already. If anyone has any sites that they know will not be blocked, that would be extremely helpful.

To be fair, the proxies do block several useful sites. On the other hand, they appropriately block a lot of sites too ;)

No thats not what I'm looking for. I am a journalist and I can't get to the gay, lesbian, and straight alliance website and I can't access the background information on the Gay-Straight Allience. Thats all I'm looking for, not porn. Please don't judge me because you don't know me.

Yep, I have the same problems at my school. If I want to go to any website other than Iloveschool.com I am blocked. If you find a proxy website they are blocked to cause of keyword blocks. Anyways, I hope you find this useful :)

tough luck. Those sites aren't related to your schoolwork so you have no business visiting them at school.
If they are so related, you can get the school to unblock them.

Are you kidding me? Maybe you should learn comprehension skills before you flame in rage. You are an idiot.. I created the User: Dani with the password: web to give him access to my proxy website. He has a login to access a web page that I put a restriction on so that not just anyone can access the web page. I notice you have a good 6k post under your belt are they all this dumb? Just cause you are a Moderator that thinks he knows everything doesn't mean you get special treatment and get to bad mouth people. Help someone out and get called a "numbskujll" by someone that does not have the slightest clue evidently... I live in Missouri too, whatsup?

You are a trusting soul aren't you? Do you really think that is going to stop a good hacker? I logged in using the user name and password, had no problems at all, but I made no attemps to hack your computer.

I agree -- don't think of my post as one from a moderator but just a normal poster. If I was going to use my mod skills then I would have deleted your post and given you a very bad infraction. But I won't do that in your case.

Don't need to re-read it. My point is that you opened your computer up to every hacker. My comment about wanting to destroy your computer was really toung-in-cheek, an idle threat, wishful thinking.

Any website on the net is open to every hacker in the world everyone in the world already had access to my computer in the same fashion before. There is no difference if I take the password off or leave it on. The user name and password allows the viewer to access content. A members only type area. I specifically made the User: dani and Pass: web so anyone that saw that post could access the content in which you could get to with that user name and password. The way you act is if it was an Administrator password to login to my server. I am no idiot and in no way did this make my website more vulnerable. I do not claim to be a genius of server security, but I know when it starts to thunder.

Statistical Analyst for the Comptroller (moneybags). Worked closely with Accounting & Finance as well as Budget. We used to loose millions of dollars just in rounding the money to the nearest 100 million. That's probably why I can never keep my personal checkbook balanced, and why I let my wife do it :)

Not quite an Air Force brat, but my biological father was in the army for 4 years. Not gonna make the same mistake he did haha. Suprised your not a 3c0x1 or 3c2x1 or were you at one point time?

These are my bases I am thinking about; What kinda mistakes do 1st term airmen make?

I'm sensing some missing steps in the logic chain. Let me spell it out for you: your school owns the internet connection and thus has every right to tell you exactly what you can and cannot view. Your school has set blocks so that you cannot view the sites you want. Therefore you are not allowed to view those sites. Is that simple enough for you?

Maybe instead of trying to get around the blocks, which most schools would see as illegal activity and punish you appropriately for, why don't you ask for the blocks to be removed for the sites you wish to view?

Which would you rather experience?

• Sending an official request through the system and getting what you want by following the rules.
• Getting caught for hacking the system and being suspended or expelled.

Most blocks in general are lame and easy to get around, but that doesn't make it any less wrong. If you don't get caught it just means that now you have one more immoral action on your conscience.

You can believe what you want, but you still have to obey the rules of the reigning authority. In this case that would be the ones who own and control both the computers and internet connection: the school. If you can't or won't follow their rules, you've waived your right to use the equipment.

Yeah if you get caught.. but you said "If you don't get caught it just means that now you have one more immoral action on your conscience." Which seems to indicate that you believe whatever the 'reigning authority' deems illegal is immoral. If there was a law banning the use of computers, would you then consider it immoral to break this law and use a computer?
