I recently have been getting pop ups when I start my computer up saying that I'm sending emails to addresses that I dont know, obviously I ave a virus of some sort. I have mbam, atf cleaner, I ram the mbam software, it found 5 infected and deleted them, but when I restarted my computer the smae problem occured.

Sending e-mails can be due to a spyware(keylogger most probably) or a rootkit....
Download and scan with the following tools :

Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.6.2

Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool 2.10

AFter the Scans Report back with the results here (There wont be any logfiles provided by them)

Make sure you run the scans individually and reboot after fixing the results after each scan....

Now run a fresh HJT scan and post back the log here..

Ok so I did both scans, the microsoft malicous software tool found 2 infected files but i still want to make sure its completely gone

It would help if we knew what these were. Just because they seem to be removed they may not be, especially with a problem suddenly showing with your anti-virus program.

ok, well I did a full scan again with the same program and it again came up with 2 infected files, as for the details it gave me a list of win32\blahblah files, most were not infected except for one

Backdoor:Win32/IRCbot.gen!J -it said it was partially removed
I'm going to do a full scan with avira since I was doing a full scan with mbam while the microsoft tools was scanning but mbam didnt find anything.

You know all of the information we request is very important. Giving an answer like

win32\blahblah files

doesn't tell us much and there can be hundreds of win32 files on a computer.
You never, ever run two removal tools at the same time. This can cause either both to fail, both to remove items they shouldn't or one or both to give false readings.
I would suggest you run that Microsoft tool again...this time with NO OTHER TOOLS RUNNING. Allow it to complete and if it has other steps you must do then do them immediately.
Reboot the computer.
We need to see a Full Scan with an updated MBA-M. We also need to see what Avira finds. If the infection was only partially removed what steps did it give for full removal? Were you told to reboot the computer to complete removal? If so this should have been done immediately.
We cannot offer correct steps unless we get full answers.
The trojan found is not a "minor" infection, it can do major damage.
Here are just some of the things this can do as described by Symantec:

Once executed, it can connect to an IRC channel and listen for commands from the remote attacker. Then, the remote attacker can access the compromised computer and perform any of the following actions:
* Control the IRC client on the compromised computer
* Update the Trojan
* Send the Trojan to other IRC channels
* Download and execute files, some of which may be additional malware
* May copy itself to shared folders on other computers
* Perform Denial of Service (DoS) attacks against a specific target
* Delete itself from the compromised computer

What Avira scan are you talking about? You don't have two antivirus programs installed on the computer do you? Before installing Avira you should have totally Uninstalled Symantec/Norton.

hmm, now my symantec endpoint protection has been turned off and I cant seem to turn it back on, are there any free, reliable antivirus programs that anyone knows of?

ok, well I did a full scan again with the same program and it again came up with 2 infected files, as for the details it gave me a list of win32\blahblah files, most were not infected except for one

Backdoor:Win32/IRCbot.gen!J -it said it was partially removed

I'm going to do a full scan with avira since I was doing a full scan with mbam while the microsoft tools was scanning but mbam didnt find anything.

Oh ok sorry about that, also thankyou for letting me know about the issue of running two scans at once.
Ok so I ran the microsoft malware tools again, and it came up with the same message, it said it was partially removed and that I should get an actual antivirus product adn run a full scan. I rebooted the computer and ran the updated mbam, it came up with nothing but heres the log file

after that, i rebooted the computer and ran the Avira scan, no virus's appeared. Now I havnt had the problem as i first stated in this topic since then, but since my symantec isnt working anymore, (which is what was originally stopping the spam emails from being sent)I dont know if its sending the spam emails without me knowing.

Oh well I did have them both installed but I uninstalled avira and now Ive been trying to uninstall symantec but am having trouble.
I open the control panel, add remove programs and try to remove it. but I get an error saying
"another inatalation is already in progress, complete that instalation before proceeding with the install"

so then I try to make a change to the program from the add remove programs but then I get another error saying
"live update is currently running, please wait for liveupdate to complete before continuing"

Check task manager and stop all norton/symantec entries running these would include these for sure

Then try your uninstall again. If you cannot do it then boot to safe mode and try again.

ahh finally some good news, I was able to uninstall the symantec, but of course my power had to flicker out twice restarting my computer. this didnt happen till after I uninstalled it though.
I was wondering whether i should reinstal symantec because other than this incident, symantec has been pretty good at catching virus's and such.

If you have time remaining on your subscription, since it is a paid program, then go ahead. Bear in mind that while it "may" have signaled that your email was sending spam it DID allow the infection onto the computer. The choice is yours really and you should make it quickly or you will end up exactly the same way.
One thing, you obviously do some P2P sharing, this could very well be the way you got infected in the first place.
Update MBA-M and do another Full System scan, remove all that is found. Reboot the computer. Do another HJT scan and then post back here with both logs.

Ok,well i actually got the symantec from my college, since they made me download it to gain access to their network. Also I have no idea what email the virus was trying to use since I use aol, and my school email which showed no evidence of those emails in my sent, spam,or any other folders. Im just gonna go with Avira and Ill update back with my scans.

Firefox is generally considered a safer browser.
But....why do you now have two anti-virus programs on the machine?
Your HJT log shows BOTH Avira and Symantec/Norton running on the machine. If you want to reduce the security on the computer that is the way to do it. While the two anti-virus programs are both trying to protect the computer they are also fighting against each other which can let infection slip through.
Before installing Avira you should have totally Uninstalled Symantec/Norton.
I gave you instructions on uninstalling Symantec using Safe Mode. You absolutely HAVE to get that off the computer ASAP.
Boot to Safe Mode, then go to Add/Remove and Uninstall ALL Symantec/Norton. If you still have difficulty then download the Norton Removal Tool and use that following the instructions EXACTLY given on the link. You computer is at risk until you get that extra anti-virus program fully removed.

I did uninstall symantec through the add remove programs, and it said it uninstalled everything, thats why i went ahead and downloaded avira.

I took a look at the add remove programs, sorry I missed some other programs that were under a different name (Liveupdate. symantec) thats what was probably still running. ill remove them and update my hijack log

Also, after you do all those uninstalls via Add/Remove, and Norton/Symantec has MANY in there, often under both names so read the list very carefully, then do a search on the computer for remaining files. Do it this way:
Start, Search, Files and Folders, Advanced Options, make sure there are check marks in Search System Folders, Search Hidden Files and Folders, Search Sub Folders. Then first list Symantec. Let the search happen then Delete anything found. Then do the same again for Norton. Delete anything found.

ok I deleted all norton and symantec files and folders except one.
It is in my C:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\symantec
Theres nothing in the folder, I checked its properties, 0bytes and only two sub folders
The error said cannot delete,make sure the disk is not write protected or full and that it is not currently in use.

Should I worry about this?

I read some more about the csrss. and realized it is a required task for my computer :p
