As mentioned in another thread, as of a day or so ago, we have a new algorithm being used to generate the list of Recommended Articles in the bottom toolbar. I was just wondering if anyone found them increasingly relevant? The algo is custom tailored to you based on your …
Re: Umm ... if you're trying to have multiple accounts and post a question with one and reply with the other including a plug to your site, it only works if you remember to log out and not use the same account for the question and the answer.
Re: Yes. Members, threads, and posts can be transferred over. The site's style / templates obviously cannot. Last I checked, private messages and, unfortunately, member passwords, didn't transfer over, however. The vBulletin developers recently released new conversion software, however.
Re: It's a known bug but I thought it only showed its face after moderator action, so that's why I ignored it. It happens after replying as a normal user??
Re: Email is incredibly inexpensive to send. It ranges from free to just a few pennies per email that gets legitimately sent out. Additionally, it doesn't often make sense to spend extra money super targeting your email list because email open rates tend to be lower and lower nowadays as every …
Today, my Yorkshire Terrier, who I had since the 9th grade, passed away :( https://www.facebook.com/dani.at.daniweb/posts/10153577862480075 I actually started DaniWeb.com in high school as a photo album all about Sheyna (and my maltese, Mitzi, who I got a year later), and it eventually expanded into a community of yorkie and toy … ![]()
Re: Hi, I'm a little bit confused by what you're asking. When you say "loaded" do you mean displayed?? So, in other words, here on DaniWeb, you can use the vote up / vote down arrows next to each post. If you've voted on a post in the past, then the …
This is a program I wrote for my x86 assembly class which generates matrices, multiplies them, and computes how long the arithmetic took. It uses Irvine32.inc which came with the textbook.
Re: > As far as I can see, to develop applications using OAuth we need to own server space to host a site? Not necessarily. It depends what your application is trying to do. > An application, when registered to DaniWeb, requires a URL to be provided. A desktop application obviously …
Re: It seems from your post that you took offense to iamthwee's personality, but yet you found members such as ddanbe and Ancient Dragon very helpful and pleasant. Well ... we're a community of over one million members. Like any community in the world, there are going to be people you … ![]()
Re: Do what you want with your own personal website. It's yours to do what you want with. If people want to visit because they like what you offer, then fine. If they don't like it, they don't have to come back.
Re: If you're not logged in, you can write out your reply and then click on one of the three blue buttons that say Login with Facebook / Twitter / Google+, and it should retain your post. There is no traditional login form because we're migrating away from that in favor …
Re: Posts are grouped together into Articles/Threads. You just created a new thread, and I am filling out the form beneath the last post in the thread (in this case the thread only consists of your one post) replying to it.
This was posted in a behind-the-scenes forum yesterday, but here it is for everyone today: There have been a LOT of changes so far, and more to come. Most of what's happened so far has dealt with OAuth. A lot more security on the backend and more in line with …

Re: You really don't have enough traffic to make a killing on advertising ... yet. For now, focus more on driving to and maintaining traffic within your community. Check out our Building a Community forum for some tips. The first thing that you want to do is try to get users …
Re: I, personally, am a web developer with no desktop application experience. As a result, there is no native support for OAuth with installed apps. It would be great if you could point me to some examples on the correct method to handle installed apps and I'll defintely look into it.

Re: Yeah, we've had a big issue with spammers lately. Sorry :(
Re: You shouldn't need to submit your site to the search engines at all. They should be able to pick up on it from external links pointing to you. <edit> Nevermind, saw you were talking about a sitemap. Subdomains are seen as completely different sites, so links between different subdomains pass …

Re: There should be a little green question mark next to the link that indicates what the number in parentheses means. Sorry for the confusion.
Re: I understand this can be confusing. Members who have their profile set to invisible do not show up in the list.
Re: I didn't even know there were websites like that, limonzmm. Isn't there a standalone app called Twitter Adder or something like that? Then again, you can always grow the natural way ;)

I'm active on Twitter and I syndicate everything I write into Facebook automatically. I want to get started with Google+, but I don't want to have to post there separately. Is there a way to have what I write in Facebook/Twitter posted to Google+ too?

Re: Don't ask me! I don't know the first thing about Firefox extensions and I only know jQuery. You know what, though? Someone here is actually in the middle of doing something very similar for DaniWeb. Let me see if I can find their thread because they'd be the person you …
Re: Members can endorse other members for their skills and expertise. Warrens80 -- for reasons unclear to me but that he can probably explain -- just endorsed you for your expertise in Web Design and in Javascript. You can see all the endorsements you've collected in your member profile.
Re: StackOverflow dominates the search results because Google wants them to :) Google sends them more traffic than any other programming/IT site. Just the sheer volume of traffic they get from Google means more people around to answer questions, even if a smaller percentage of their audience participates. Other than SO, … ![]()

Re: Sorry, not me, but you might want to fix your forum signature. It's kinda unreadable. Honestly, though, I think Photoshop is one of those things where your graphic design portfolio should speak for itself.
