Try slipstreaming your motherboard drivers into your windows CD using a program called Nlite. Also ensure that in the BIOS, SATA RAID is OFF, and SATA is set to IDE Emulation Mode. Also ensure that Bootsector Virus Protection is OFF.

DO NOT install RH9 onto a SATA disk. Its just too old. Get a copy Of Fedora Core 4 - free to download or RHEL if you can afford it. They work no probs.
