If you are using a router, the router itself should BE the 'admin computer', because it is the component running the network! Best you check the settings in the router/firewall interface. Perhaps you have certain features blocked, such as Java applets or active-x controls, and the website you are trying …

Goodness, dlh! What on Earth are you doing resurrecting an old topic? Was the post misplaced? Anyway, seeing that it's been resurrected I'd like to add comment related to the original question. There is really only one way to ensure beyond doubt that another person does not use your PC. …

An unusual problem you had there. I've not seen nVidia driver corruption cause this particular behaviour before. Thanks for posting the details of how you resolved the matter. I'll mark this topic as 'solved'.

Hang on a bit. Just uninstalling the onboard sound from within Windows is not enough. Uninstall the old one. Shut down. Power up and immediately go into BIOS setup. Disable the onboard sound there. Boot up, and install the new soundcard.

You've not mentioned which Windows version, but for Windows XP I use the OS itself for Zip files, and WinRAR for all other archive types. Works for me, and it's a pretty clean way to deal with things. Moved to the 'Windows Software' section, by the way.

Use 'Help' or <F1> to bring up the help balloon, type in 'create mail account' as you search criteria and you'll bring up the instructions you need. You'll also bring up the full 'Help' index along with it, and you should spend a bit of time reading through the assistance …

Your best option by far, given that you have a network, is to use an all-in-one Cable/ADSL Gateway/Router/Modem. Full anti-intrusion protection, no software overhead, and you can now purchase them at a quite low price. You should also check to see if you have your network configured appropriately. Just because …

Which Windows version do you use. The error seems to suggest that a Windows XP only program is being used on a Windows 98 system. It my not mean that the Kernel32.dll file needs to be replaced - just that an illegal call to it has benn made.

Use a better copying program? Any backup copies I've made have worked just fine, whether they were created with Nero or with CloneCD. You're actiually using a CD copy routine, are you, and not just dragging/dropping the CD contents from one drive to another?

Boot from Windows XP CD. Delete partition before continuing with the install. Create new ones. Continue installing Windows. The XP installation routine contains the necessary utilities and capability.

If you have a 'Name brand' PC which isn't accompanied by a separate Windows installation CD, read the product documentation carefully, or contact the manufacturer's support service, because it WILL have the facility to refresh your Windows installation without wiping the drive.
