easiest thing to do is erase your computer, back up what is important to you, then find somebody who can take care of the situation(i can)

@vernondozier
15 / 3 * 5 = gibberish
there is no such thing as left/right precedence, parentheses are required.

ok...here's the story, in the 'you know you are a geek when' thread, somebody
down-rated my 'you stink like BO after the slightest bit of exercise' response for no good reason. it pissed me off that somebody would rate me down for that and not even say why or who they are..
so then i decided to just downrate everyone's post in that thread in the hopes of finding out who or why my post was downrated. but mostly i would just like to know why.
the post has since been up-rated back to 0. thanks to whoever up-voted.
i will try to remove all my down-votes from that thread, but i don't think that i am able to take back votes once they are cast....

thank you all for your concern, and i'm sorry i let one anonymous bad apple spoil the whole bunch of you.

what is the point of trying to help silly little lost online souls?
maybe someday i'll wake and realize i'm gonna lock the gate....and you can't come in....
this post is directly directed towards the loser who likes to rate me down.

my suggestion would be just add another gateway(new connection) and then add the new network to each computer.

i wouldn't even know how to combine 2 ISPs into one network, if that's what you're trying to, but i can think of a few ways that i'd like to try.

but i think 2 networks would be much simpler. just customize each machine for where/what it needs to do.

-edit upon further thought, you ARE probably trying to support one network with two internets.
and i'll keep thinking about it

skilly 23 Posting Whiz in Training

to see webpages, your network card must have DHCP & DNS addresses set in there.
usually putting the router's ip will solve this, but i'm starting to lose track of
your questions, so just keep trying stuff and you'll figure it out eventually:)

uh steve sir, i don't think xp has the on-screen keyboard, but i could be wrong.

hehheh....i wonder if it's a stolen computer!

skilly 23 Posting Whiz in Training

one way would be to open the 'tools' menu from a folder's menu, select
'folder options' then 'view' tab
at bottom of list uncheck 'use sharing wizard' or 'use simple sharing'

for this to work, your usernames must have passwords set

your comment on my reputation makes no sense, kraai
why don't you just stop following me around?

skilly 23 Posting Whiz in Training

why should that matter?

yeah me too, i have a usb wg111v3 adapter, it works perfect for xp, but now
that i'm using win7 again, my problem is back again.

what happens to me, though, is i lose my internet connection, the light on the adapter stays on solid(usually it blinks).
nothing freezes until i try to shut down or restart. then i have to pull the plug.
and reinstall the adapter every time

i also have dynamic ip address, anything else i can do besides updating & harassing
netgear about it?

i downloaded the update and it has not failed for like several hours now
seems my previous post here was unneccessary, ishould've made my own thread

skilly 23 Posting Whiz in Training

hah! that picture's funny-looking! try to grab the corner and strech it,
try alt+ctrl+del, try close from taskbar, keeps opening the same? then i don't know yet

skilly 23 Posting Whiz in Training

I have read(in an unsolved thread) that IE9 does not support framesets.

i still use ie8 and it works just fine for me, but when i upgrade,
ie9 acts like its infected and hangs

i tried reinstalling with security essentials disabled, but no luck,
could windows defender be interfering?
i searched technet and the web a little bit, but i gave up and went back to 8

i use win7 pro, 2.1GHz cpu,1.5GB ram

This is not an emergency, so please only post if you are 100% sure you can help or need more information about my system or network or problem, thanks!

How to check router settings:

Open:Cmd.exe
type:ipconfig
press enter
read the output. your router's ip address is listed as "default gateway"
open your internet browser
type your default gateway address where you normally type website addresses
press enter
your router's settings page should appear
every type of router's page is different, and has different options
try to find your dhcp client list(not all routers can be a dhcp server)
set a password, security settings and so on, etc.

i'm only telling you this so you can have more confidence talking to the ISP.
because yes it is possible that your neighbors could be stealing your bandwith
(especially if you reset the router, because then the password is gone)

and kraai, LAN is Local Area Network, WAN is Wide Area Network and WLAN means Wireless Local Area Network. They said they had fixed the faulty line so
i really don't know what the hell is going on(but i want know).
you must think his ISP is lying to him? that is always a possibility

skilly 23 Posting Whiz in Training

i guess i wasn't joking then, about the router. did they supply it? or do you own it? router firewalls are important.

some other ideas:
-turn on tracking blocker(or whatever it called, a.k.a. inprivate filtering)from tools menu internet xplorer.
-and disable all add-ons(from same menu
-block 3rd party cookies(or all)tools>internetoptions>privacy>advanced
-YOU didn't download and install anything, but what about auto-updates?
-reliability monitor is a neat little new thing for 7,but needs a restore point for it to function at all.

maybe they didn't fix it yet...did you see them do any work?

ok, that's all i got for now

hmmm...your ISP found fault in the connection? sounds vague....

i was thinking more about your router. if it is wirless, you need to create a password..etc. you can get to your router's settings by typing its IP address in the address line of your browser(at least that's how mine works). any smartphone can hack wireless routers to steal your bandwith, and a password is not always enough(especially if it is weak) also, bittorrent software should always be closed when you aren't using it.

if you get to your router's settings page, check the security log
glad if i could help
-skilly
-edit -how am i being unclear?
perhaps you need me to tell you how to find your router's IP address?
