Strange Virus

Hi ive been trying to fix my pc for months and i think i have a strange virus that boots off an on my pc consistantly every 10 secs.. ill try to type this short since it might shut off while im writing thisnow ..

ive replaced the heat sink fan and power unit which got my pc to work for 4 dys before it started to do the whole loop on an off thing again untill i ahve to manaully shut it off from the power supply( XION atx power supply im using ) .

Im trying to see if i can get my pc clean so that i can figure out what hardware issue is causing my pc to do this another site mention that it could be a virus or worm that " reboots on & off randomly pc ".. heres my hijacklog file

let me know what i need to take out also i notice before all this started to happen.. ive installed a malware bytes program to get rid of spyware not sure if that would do it but please if guys can let me know that would great thanks!

I have a windows xp with vista. I have never had a mac. I am a musician and have an rs232 connector on my laptop. I also need a wave file player. Also my computer has no cd so I want sonic foundry and cakewalk software. Do you know where I can buy.? From the net downloaded?

pimpwack, you need to be sure the program you installed was the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBA-M) program. Update that program, do a full system scan with it and have it REMOVE all items found.
Reboot the computer. Run a new HiJackThis scan and then post back here with the MBA-M log and the HiJackThis log.

That MBA-M program is WAY out of date. The current database version is 3131 and your version is 2775. Can you update again and do another scan?

I asked the question because you didn't say whether things were better or not. No, I don't see anything in the log except a huge amount of programs running needlessly. But I don't see infections.

Cases, Fans and Powersupply forum, if the problem arrose when you upgraded or altered your hardware then most likely a virus wouldn't be the culprit.

The poster clearly stated in his first post

i have a strange virus that boots off an on my pc consistantly every 10 secs.. ill try to type this short since it might shut off while im writing thisnow ..

ive replaced the heat sink fan and power unit which got my pc to work for 4 dys before it started to do the whole loop on an off thing again

This says the problem was happening BEFORE the replacements were made and then continued AFTER the replacements were done so it is likely the problem is not hardware related.
Have you tried safe mode with networking? If this works without these shutdown/restarts then chances are the problem is not hardware related.

Sorry for the confusion ill start from the beginning

my friend built me this pc in 2003 had no problems with it up until 2007 where i had my brother in law replace the cpu heat fink fan and power supply and fresh install of windows xp because of the same issue with it powering on an off..back then it would do it speraticly and certainly wasn't turning itself on after being shut off for over hr.

Well after all that pc had ran perfectly till 6 months ago where i was experiencing the same behavior again.. only this time i install MALware Bytes and may have gone into safe and removed whatever was a threat..that kept going for couples weeks it start doing the same thing this time it kept re looping the booting process way too fast, pc kept making a strange repeated beeping noise..i just had to manually turn it off from the back switch of the power supply and not use it for a while.

so now we're back to a month ago where i had bought new cpu heat sink fan and power supply, cleaned my pc with dust off air spray can before i uninstalled the cpu fan.. Cleaned the left over gunk on the cpu processor and bottom of heat sink fan carefully then replaced everything back.. got some artic silver stuff to spread on the processor.. that got my pc working for 2 days where i was back to the same problem..

My room doesn't get hot & my pc sits on high a desk where it gets proper ventilation. Clean mozilla and IE, Defragged & check disks.
Only reason i thought i had a worm was i read it in some forum that had similar symptoms to my pc and you guys know i have AVG free version i think if prob doesn't detect anything deep hidden in there.. i don't know. that's bout it i don't have the money to shell out for new pc.. so im hoping its a worm or virus and not hardware issue like the motherboard or something.

These are the specs of the problem computer? This isn't much RAM. How many ram card slots are on the computer?
I honestly don't believe this is a virus/infection problem. I think you would be better off posting all this hardware info in the HARDWARE Section of daniweb. I certainly am out of my element in that and there are experts there who can certainly advise you. But include ALL of your computer specs. You can tell them we have pretty much ruled out infection over here. I just don't think that is your problem, especially since this has been going on since 2007. Just the time frame alone makes me feel this isn't an infection issue, you would have had many more symptoms than just random shut downs.
