Resolving issues with file system performance include numerous solutions, primarily hardware related, from use of faster disks, a greater number of disks, distributed storage, SANs, and on the bleeding edge extreme, petabyte-worthy technologies such as cluster file systems. It can also lead to “workaround” handlings such as reinstalling software, re-imaging …

And with the ongoing explosion in data storage as well as the massive size of modern disks, that link is growing steadily weaker. As a result, fragmentation exerts a severe toll on enterprise performance and reliability, one …
In today’s environment of bigger disks storing not only larger files but more files than ever before, the effects of fragmentation worsen markedly with each day’s use. To keep up with same-day performance degradation, disks must be defragmented in real-time.
Re: We can't debug unless we know what the problem is :) The format for the output should be headers, then a single blank line, and then the message.
Re: Do you mean that you would like to start up an affiliate program, where you can have others (website owners) promote your products in exchange for a commission?
In contrast to the "what's your favorite DaniWeb feature" thread I've got going on, I figured I might as well start an "If you could change one thing, what would it be?" thread.

Re: You're right in that I made a recent change to the page cache rules, after, in trying to debug the slow ads problem, that it takes a long time to render pages with so many CSS elements and graphics that keep needing to be redownloaded. With that, expect a solution …

Re: I agree with Ancient Dragon. Where would we be without Earth? No, seriously, where would we be? Would we be on Mars? Would we be Martians instead of Earthlings?

Re: I'm not a fan of closing older threads because they are useful and helpful to much more than the thread starter. You just have to look at how many views each thread receives to see that thousands of people can be helped, and discussion can continue, even if the original …

Re:
it was the worst school shooting in the history of the us.
It wasn't just the worst school shooting (Columbine comes to mind). This was actually the most lethal massacre / deadliest shooting rampage in the history of the US.
Re: I'm confused. Your character keeps dying so then he runs around naked trying to find his clothes, only to put them on, and die again? :) I'm soooo not a gamer. Can you tell? :)
Is it possible for a blog to become profitable by selling advertising AND paying staff writers when I, myself, don't blog? Or is it just futile to expect that advertising would generate more revenue than quality writers?

Re: You can put other ads up on your site, but not ads that are similar / competing with Google AdSense. For example, you can't use the Yahoo! Publisher Network or Clicksor or some other type of text ad that looks just like AdSense.

Re: It doesn't affect SEO at all ... AdSense is delivered with JavaScript, and search engine spiders can't understand JavaScript.
Re: I've had this problem too. No competition and yet my ads still don't show up. Have you selected to show in Google search in addition to in the content network (ie AdSense publishers)?

Re: You don't need to be manually resubmitting a sitemap either. Google automatically checks your sitemap file multiple times daily.
What do you guys think of the changes made to Google Adwords? I find the new "conversions" column very helpful, but am completely confused by that whole new on-page optimization thing they've got going on.

Re: Swap links :) Get your site visible to spiders crawling other sites and finding yours. A big misconception is that a Google sitemap will let Google find your site and know about your pages. Simply not true! The only way to get Google to spider your site is by building …

My robots.txt now looks like the following:
Sitemap: http://www.daniweb.com/sitemap.xml User-agent: * Disallow:
Google Webmaster Tools robots.txt says "Syntax not understood" for the sitemap line.
