Re: Reminds me of the decision to pack up and move from New York to California. Best decision I've ever made.
Re: I checked out your website and notice you're using the particles javascript at the bottom of the page. Many, many years ago, we used to use that as well, until we discovered it was causing some people's web browsers to crash, and for others, made the webpage unresponsive for users …
Re: That sounds really interesting. Did you ever launch the SDK? I am a bit in the same boat as you as DaniWeb Connect has an API but I have been really struggling getting it adopted. Sorry I can't be more help to you directly.
Re: Better late than never! Thanks for your post. It looks like it's really helped a few people already.
Re: Use Cloudflare (free plan is available) and plugins such as WP Rocket or WP Engine.
As you may know, yuo can customize the error pages in Cloudflare, such as for a WAF block, etc. For some reason, since the switchover to the new error pages dashboard, the custom font I always use isn't working. I can see that it converted https://cdn.daniweb.com/font.woff into inline base64 for …
Re: Starting a digital marketing/SEO agency is really tough these days because there are just sooooo many of them. What about your stands out? Play to your strengths. Choose a niche and focus on that. For example, be the absolute *best* SEO agency for car dealerships. (Just a random industry.) Reach …
Re: Any external link that points to your website is technically a backlink by definition. Do you mean they aren’t showing as links in Google Search Console? GSC only shows a subset of backlinks that it knows about. Additionally, quality and relevance of the links matter more than anything else.
I do realize that backlinks to URLs disallowed via robots.txt do still have whatever Google's modern version of pagerank is. Depending upon how many incoming backlinks there are, even if Google can't crawl a URL, it might use those external signals to still rank the URL in the search results …
Re: Ugh, I'm so sorry that happened. I've had that happen with two different external hard drives over the years ... both were LaCie drives from a very long time ago. Unfortunately, I never took any steps to try to recover them, and lost the data on them at the time. …
Just as the topic title suggests, any jQuery 4 beta users out there who could let me know what it's like? The wait for v4 gold release is killing me. Also, please don't make fun of me for being a jQuery user. DaniWeb has been built on jQuery for decades. …
Re: It’s because you are spamming your links like you did just here, and I removed it for violating our community rules.
Re: Hello, The easiest way to implement image lazy loading is by simply adding the `loading="lazy"` HTML attribute to `<img>` image tags. That will not load the image until it is about to come into view in the web browser as the user scrolls down the page. Something else that we …

Re: I agree that they *might* be AI generated, or at least have the help of AI. Sometimes it's hard to tell, and I always want to exercise extreme caution and not delete or infract a post unless I'm 100% confident. I have a bit of a migraine right now, so …
Re: Do you have a specific, niche audience in mind that your content is targeting? What do you envision that audience doing with their free time? Are they students who are going to be in school from 9 am to 4 pm? Are they parents of young kids who are going …
Re: It depends what you’d like to build. If a simple website, you can use HTML and CSS. Want some interactivity? Add JavaScript. Want to create more complex dynamic websites? You will need a backend language such as PHP and a database such as MySQL. I see you also tagged this …

Re: As Harry points out, my first guess would be to check robots.txt and ensure you aren't blocking any pages from SEMRush. Also make sure you aren't using a CDN or proxy like Cloudflare that is blocking it from their side.
Re: As you may know from other threads in these forums, I'm a huge supporter of Upwork. I know that they've chosen to no longer work with anyone in Russia. I believe Toptal still has a presence in Russia, so you could try there. You could also just try Googling for …
Re: Considering Google BERT was integrated into Google searches 7 years ago, strategies shouldn't really be evolving and adapting nowadays. However, I get what you're saying. Traditional keyword-based techniques stopped being effective in the early 2000s. Of course, you should always prioritize content quality and user intent. https://developers.google.com/search/docs/fundamentals/creating-helpful-content
Re: Hi and welcome! What interested you in SEO initially? Do you focus more on technical SEO or off-page (backlinks, etc.)?
Re: It looks like you have 800 pages that have been successfully crawled by Google, but Google chose not to index them because it felt as if they were too low quality (or some other reason) to make it into the index. Start by reviewing the pages that are in this …
Re: Of course not. Ahrefs, Moz, etc. all have their own crawlers, and their reports are limited to the data their crawlers collect. Unfortunately, their crawlers are not able to identify what Google might like or dislike about any particular URL. Therefore, there’s no way of knowing for sure which backlinks …
Re: Hello, DaniWeb actually uses Bootstrap, but I don’t use any preexisting templates. How much CSS experience do you have? Are you experienced with creating HTML code that uses css classes to piece together something unique? Bootstrap also has its own template store, if I recall correctly. Also, Tailwind is a …
Please help me come up with a compelling argument to convince my husband to spend an additional $200/month on AT&T Fiber Internet with 5Gbps download / 5 Gbps upload. We currently have Comcast Xfinity cable with 1.2Gbps download and something like 35 Mbps upload. Xfinity has a 2Gbps plan we …

What's the most challenging bug you've ever encountered in your programming career, and how did you eventually solve it? I’ll start. The only one I can recall from the recent past is not realizing that you can’t use a MySQL transaction from within a persistent connection. Here’s [when I learned …
Re: Outside of PPC platforms such as Adwords or Facebook Ads, the single best way to market an ecommerce site like that is to create a blog attached to the website filled with unique, informative articles related to the products being sold. Do the sites already have blogs? Google really favors …
Re: I think you might be confusing Java with Javascript. Is your website built with Javascript technologies such as Node.js?
I have a two part question: How do you balance accessibility and design aesthetics when building a visually complex website? Are there any unconventional approaches that have worked for you? Secondly, do you give priority to ADA compliance in UX design? Specifically, [the WCAG](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_Content_Accessibility_Guidelines)? Personally, I have tried and not …

Re: Yes, I think AI can do a lot of PPC marketing and SEO grunt work (e.g. keyword research) that would typically be outsourced overseas.
Re: You’re creating an array of 5 integers and then trying to access the 11th integer in the array (assuming the indexes start at 0). You’re getting an out of bounds error because you’re trying to access an array element that doesn’t exist. You can access arr[0] up through arr[4].
Re: Always customize based on search keywords, I suppose? Honestly, I've been out of the PPC game for a few years now.

Re: I’m going to assume you’re using Auth0. Although I don’t have any Okta experience personally, the DaniWeb API is Oauth2 based, so I’m going to assume they work in a similar way. If I’m understanding you properly, you’re looking to use an access token across both an SPA app and …
I just thought it would help us get to know each other a lot better if we each just gave 1-2 sentences about what we do for work. I'll start :) For the past 24 years, I have owned and written the code for DaniWeb. For the majority of that …

Re: I think they are insinuating that even though AI seems like a magic bullet solution to content writing, it’s not perfect, and its faults will be its downfall. That makes it not a good long term solution. IMHO, this is exactly correct. Every content writer and their mother are using …

Re: Eek! I’m so sorry. We upgraded our editor last week and I suppose it’s possible a bug was introduced in my code? Can you please start a new thread in the Meta DaniWeb forum explaining exactly what you were clicking on, etc. just before it crashes, along with your browser …
