Re: First off, I want to say that I will not partake in this discussion, as it will only breed a flame war. However, I will point out some fallacies brought out on both sides. Re:
Why do you need the AOL software anyway?
Most people use AOL as a browser. And although ya can check email at AOL.com, most use AOL software to check it. (this is assuming you're using broadband ;))
Re: Several things to check out. 1) Any chance your mouse is faulty? 2) You might want to check out your mouse's settings and be sure double-clicking is possible. Oftentimes, variables such as speed and such make it nearly impossilbe to do. Thanks.
Re: Dude, I hate to say it, but I wouldnt doubt one bit that ya have a virus/extreme malware. I'd reccomend that ya download HijackThis (a diagnostic software), rewrite the problem in a thread in the 'Virus, Spywares, and other nasties' category, and post a HijackThis log into your thread. Re: Alrite, mabe I'm wrong, but this seems like spyware. I'd recommend that ya post a new thread in the 'Virus, Spyware, and Other Nasties' thread, along with a HijackThis log. (directions for doing this can be found in the very first thread listed, http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/thread28196.html )

What this does is replace the Hosts file, which can oftentimes become corrupted, therefore limiting the access to certain sites. Thanks.
Re:
Would it be worth using a restore point from a month or so before this problem surfaced to get back to what we had?
That's what I would try first, because if this fixes it, then ya don't need to worry about it too much. If this doesn't work, I …

Re: Chalk up a vote for enabling color. Correct color usage can greatly improve the clarity of a post, especially when one wants the post to appear simple. A good usage of color can often be found in the spyware section. But again, does feedback even matter here anymore?

Re:
He's right. Fascism and communism are two very different things. Many consider Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hilter to be communist.
