I know a lot of vBulletin people view these forums, and some of the developers are Moderators here. So, the question is, would you guys ever convert over to ASP.NET? I'm not saying dump php, just run on two different systems. If you guys did, I know you would make …

I've known a machine with bad ram that also had that same stop error. If it acts up again, try switching the ram with some sticks you know work good.

Goto Add/Remove Programs, and scroll to the bottom. There, it lists all of the Windows Update Hotfixes. If that update appears there, mazel tov... its a Microsoft bug (who would have guessed).

Well, if it's only one value that your going to be returned, you can use the .ExecuteScalar, which returns an Object (the first row, first column of your query).

Illegal software is a no-no. If the BSA contacts you, you may be pressed by a $20,000+ fine. (Ed: The Business Software Alliance will find you one day. Their website is http://www.bsa.org if you were wondering.) Just to remind everyone, TechTalkForums does not in any way associate itself with illegal …

FreeTextBox. The one, the only, the best, free ASP.NET rich text box. Everyone uses this one; from the ASP.NET Forums to DotNetNuke. And, by the way, consider using the ntext datatype to store it in SQL Server. You'll have enough room for 1073741823 characters, and it will be able to …

Well, I'm the tekmaven that Dani was refering to :). I actually am biased too, because I also worked for Telligent Systems, Inc ;). Community Server is an amazing web platform. The free version is comparable to vBulletin and Invison Board - based on ASP.NET / Microsoft SQL Server. It's …

n1cole- Just my 2 cents.... You seem to be working on Visual Basic 6. Don't. The term "web devlopment" in VB5 and VB6 came in the form of ActiveX controls, and, simply put, this is not the way to go. ActiveX controls are only compatable with one browser (IE), in …

I think I would know VB.NET the most here ::grins::. Remember, since you are in VB.NET, you want to avoid using things that are external from the .NET Framework. So what do you do? Simple :-)! Check out the System.Net.Sockets namespace, and have some fun :-). Need more help? Google …

Well, you can just output printer friendly HTML pages, but this won't allow you to control 100% of the paper output (the brower will put the url, page number, title, etc on the header/footer). Another interesting route other then ActiveX, is a Windows Forms application with ClickOnce deployment. The user …

How much money do you have? Windows 2000 Server - which is an old operating system and has been replaced by Windows Server 2003. If you can afford Server 2003, then go for it - its very easy to use, and will do a better job then Linux will ever …

I'm not sure if this problem has been solved, but I was browsing through the forums and noticed this unanswered problem. Did you install SQL Server with something other then the default instance? Goto Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services, and verify that Microsoft SQL Server is running.

Well, unfortionatly, this isn't a one step painless type of thing. You are going to need some type of capture hardware, like a TV Tuner Card, or a Firewire/USB2.0 Breakout box with AV connectors to get the video into the computer. After that, the DVD Burner should include software to …
