Re: Are you on a network by chance?
Re:
the fdisk command is not available for Windows 2003
That's because you need to boot to a pure DOS environment to use fdisk.
Re:
I get an"Invalid Boot.ini file booting from C:\windows" message when starting up . I use WIN XP. I have done a search for this file which shows 0kb as contents. The computer boots up after this message but I tried to repair or reinstall win xp but because of this …
Re: Registry corruption sucks. When you boot up trying the F8 option, choose "Last Known Good Configuration." See what that does.

Re: Far, far, far, far, far too long every day. I leave here (work) to go home and play games, surf more, download gigs upon gigs of stuff, then sleep only to repeat the cycle.
Re: So you're running a normal OS, and VM'ing two other ones at the same time? That's putting some pressure on your hardware for sure.
Re:
...Of course, if your son is knowledgable about computers, he may already know how to reset a BIOS password jumper. My Advice: Have a BIOS password. Have a Windows password. Lock the keyboard in a gun safe when it's not being used, and lock the door of the room containing …
Re: You'll need a network bootable disk with smartdrv on it. Boot, map a network drive to a share containing the installation files, execute "smartdrv", change directory to i386, then "winnt". That's the basic rundown. If you're unfamiliar with DOS commands, it can be very confusing at first, but I can …
Re:
Hmmm... take this suggestion only as a suggestion. I'm sure that someone else will be able to respond in more detail. I have no idea why you're running into this problem, but whenever I've needed to reformat (I used to do it quite a bit) I would use Linux. Again, …
Re: Yes, 11Mbps. You answered your own question. To reuse an old adage, "A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link."
Re:
try checking the processor I had a PIII 450 come up with no video and I pulled the cover and my processor was lose
AMD's are all sockets, I doubt it's that. Sounds like a power supply issue, or something could be grounding out. Take everything out of your case …
Re:
make sure there isn't a bent pin on the monitor cable where it connects to the video card or try removeing and Reseating the vido card unless you have unboard video of course .
This should be the first option. Don't tear the monitor apart unless you know what's going …
Re: My first box was an Acer. My sister owns one as well, for whatever reason. I haven't really heard anything bad about the Travelmates, but you may want to price out a comparable system with HP or Dell. Just go to their websites and use their online configuration tools, or …
Re:
I wish that I could do a System Restore, but If you read my post....It tells you that I CAN NOT start my computer. So how would I do that if I cant even get the computer to boot up? Anyone....PLEASE let me know what to do.....Should I boot up …
Re: That's odd. Processes tab, yes. Do you have SP1 installed?
Re: I knew I'd seen that problem before, and only on a laptop. :) Glad to hear it's fixed.
Re:
Ive been looking at other threads in this forum and there are discussions of kernels. I don't know anything about this, what are these?
They don't apply to you. Try an older version of the Detonator drivers. 31.08 sticks out for some reason, or maybe it's 41.09.
Re:
RTFM ....
man man
....ect,ect......
Wee...no one should have to man command for everything. When I want to install a fourth window manager, I should have that option, without it being cryptic. pkginstall isn't cryptic, but that's because we know it. The "Newbie" install for Slackware as an example, gives basic functionality like …

Re:
check on the back of your hardrives to make sure you have the jumpers set right not to say RTFM but read in the manual about your jumper settings
Negatory on that, good buddy. Windows sees the drive. The drive is there. The drive has no partition information. He needs …
Re: I wouldn't be male if I didn't enjoy talking about cars. Computers, mainly networking and system tweaking. And while there is always something to improve upon with a system, you can be entirely too anal about some things. Example: memory timings, temperatures, and raw speed in general.

Re: You could number the tracks with leading zeros, but that would be too much of a pain. And yes, it's a limitation of the filesystem (CDFS ?).

Re: What's your power supply wattage?
Re: What happened was that XP setup wrote a new boot sector, pretty much erasing any existence of a plain vanilla 98 installation. You can't really do anything about it other than format and start over, along with an fdisk /mbr before you reinstall 98.
Re:
Ok so I just built this computer and everything was going good. Then It just stopped powering on. I press the power button and nothing happens. Sometimes it starts up but quickly shuts off before anything happens. I can get it to power up by taking the power botton jumper … |
